A Quantitative Study on Mental Health, Sleep Quality, and Quality of Life among Family Members of Patients With First-Episode Cancer
This study investigated mental health, sleep quality, and quality of life among family members of patients with first-episode cancer. A survey was conducted with 39 family members of patients with cancer, using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Caregiver Quality of Life Index-Cancer (CQOLC). HADS scores indicated that 17 participants (43.6%) had adjustment and/or major depressive disorder…
Growth of Very Preterm Infants in a Low-Resourced Rural Setting after Affiliation with a Human Milk Bank
The extrauterine growth restriction (EUGR) of very preterm infants has been associated with long-term complications and neurodevelopmental problems. EUGR has been reported at higher rates in low resource settings. There is limited research investigating how metropolitan human milk banks contribute to the growth outcomes of very preterm infants cared in rural areas. The setting of this study is located at a rural county in Taiwan and affiliated wi…
Improved Survival of Periviable Infants after Alteration of the Threshold of Viability by the Neonatal Resuscitation Program 2015
Periviable infants (PIs) born at 22-25 weeks gestational age (wGA) have a variable survival rate (49.7-86.2%) among hospitals. One factor involved in this difference may be the definition of the threshold of viability. The American Academy of Pediatrics revised the neonatal resuscitation program in late 2015 (NRP 2015) and altered the threshold of viability from 23 to 22 wGA. The impact on the survival of PIs after the guideline alteration has se…
Structural validity and internal consistency of Picture My Participation
The four possible subcomponents of PMP can be used to provide information about possible domains in which participation and participation restrictions exist. This study provided further psychometric evidence about PMP as a measure of participation. The stability and the utility of these subcomponents needed further exploration
A research agenda for ageing in China in the 21st century (2nd edition)
A Treelined Street Full of the Sound of Music
Under the shade of green trees there is a road. Tung-p'ing Road, such a tranquil and beautiful road! It is filled with music. Whenever we pass by, there can be heard the playing of wordless poetry on a piano. The soft and gentle sound of the softly played piano is like the cool breeze of a summer day, lightly pushing the strollers along in a disinterested but hospitable way
