  • Predictive Algorithm for Team Mental Model Convergence

Open Access•Jeffy Jahfar Poozhithara, Deanna M Kennedy et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2023

Is everyone on your team on the same page about the task? This is a question team leaders want to know. Herein, we take an approach that can help managers move the team in the right direction of team mental models (TMMs), individually held cognitive representations of task components that when similar and/or accurate can promote task success. We begin by defining the new concept of mental model shifts (MMSs) as the directional shift in each team …

  • Many Analysts, One Data Set

Open Access•Raphael Silberzahn, Eric Luis Uhlmann et al.•ARTICLE•Advances in Methods and Practices…•2018

Twenty-nine teams involving 61 analysts used the same data set to address the same research question: whether soccer referees are more likely to give red cards to dark-skin-toned players than to light-skin-toned players. Analytic approaches varied widely across the teams, and the estimated effect sizes ranged from 0.89 to 2.93 ( Mdn = 1.31) in odds-ratio units. Twenty teams (69%) found a statistically significant positive effect, and 9 teams (31%…

  • Teamwork in extreme environments

Open Access•M Travis Maynard, Deanna M Kennedy et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Organizational Behavior•2018•Cited by: 3•References: 2

Given the numerous calls for researchers to examine teams in the wild to better understand the impact of context on team dynamics and performance, there has been increased consideration of teams operating within extreme environments. As such, this special issue is focused on better understanding the factors that shape teamwork in extreme environments so that the lessons learned can be leveraged within extreme as well as in other team contexts as …

  • American Indian Business

Deanna M Kennedy, Charles F Harrington et al.•EDITOR•BOOK•American Indian Business•2017

American Indian business is booming. The number of American Indian– and Alaska Native–owned businesses increased by 15.3 percent from 2007 to 2012—a time when the total number of US businesses increased by just 2 percent—and receipts grew from $34.4 million in 2002 to $8.8 billion in 2012. Despite this impressive growth, there is an absence of small businesses on reservations, and Native Americans own private businesses at the lowest rate per cap…

  • The pipeline project

Open Access•Martin Schweinsberg, Nikhil Madan et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Experimental Social…•2016•Cited by: 16•References: 68

This crowdsourced project introduces a collaborative approach to improving the reproducibility of scientific research, in which findings are replicated in qualified independent laboratories before (rather than after) they are published. Our goal is to establish a non-adversarial replication process with highly informative final results. To illustrate the Pre-Publication Independent Replication (PPIR) approach, 25 research groups conducted replica…

  • Native American cultural influences on career self-schemas and MBA fit

    Open Access•Amy Klemm Verbos, Deanna M Kennedy et al.•ARTICLE•Equal Opportunities International•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 45

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to develop two new constructs (career self-schemas and career locus) and present a conceptual model of the influence of Native American culture on MBA fit. Design/methodology/approach – Using a social cognitive lens on career theory, the authors examine the possible effects of cultural influences on the fit between Native Americans’ career goals and an MBA. Specifically, the authors propose that cultural fac…

  • Examining the “Exchange” in Leader–Member Exchange

    Open Access•Kimberly Sherman, Deanna M Kennedy et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Leadership &…•2012•Cited by: 2•References: 26

Leader–member exchange (LMX) ratings from 375 supervisor–subordinate pairs were used to examine employee outcomes within the context of leader and member agreement/disagreement on the quality of their exchange relationship. The outcomes of interest included members’ turnover intentions and actual turnover within the 6 months following the initial survey. Results indicate that outcomes varied across the different dyadic relationships. Furthermore,…
