Open Access•Samuel Van Willigen, Jehanne Affolter et al.•ARTICLE•Gallia préhistoire•2025

Almost 40 years after excavations at Place de la Planta, the project to build an underground warehouse for the cantonal archives in front of the former cantonal arsenal in Sion (Valais, Switzerland) provided an opportunity to gather new information about the Neolithic period in the upper Rhône valley. This article focuses on the first two stratigraphic complexes of the site, both of which yield important new insights into the earliest Neolithic s…

Cet article se concentre sur les deux premiers ensembles stratigraphiques du site, permettant une importante re…

  • New evidence for prehistoric ploughing in Europe

Open Access•Samuel Van Willigen, Sylvain Ozainne et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2024

  • Effects of bears on rockshelter sediments at Tanay Sur‐les‐Creux, southwestern Switzerland

Open Access•Luc Braillard, Michel Guélat et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2004•Cited by: 4•References: 3

Sur‐les‐Creux rockshelter is located in the Prealps of southwestern Switzerland. The sequence of deposits in the rockshelter is 80 cm thick and consists of weathered gravels in a phosphate‐rich matrix. A few Middle Palaeolithic artifacts and the bones of cave bear ( Ursus spelaeus ) were recorded in the fill. We present the results of sedimentological, geochemical, and micromorphological analyses of the rockshelter sediment. All analyses suggest …
