We compared self-reported child labor violations between teenagers with and without work permits. Data were obtained from a school-based survey of working teenagers in 16 randomly selected high schools in North Carolina. The Validity of a Proxy Acculturation Scale Among U.S. Hispanics
This study examines the validity of a proxy acculturation scale composed of four acculturation-related variables. The authors use data from a nationally representative sample of 1,437 U.S. Hispanics. Results indicate good internal scale reliability, a high degree of correlation between the proxy scale and the full acculturation measure, and substantial agreement between dichotomized versions of the two scales. To accurately reflect the chronic nature of partner violence, point estimates should be supplemented with adult lifetime estimates of victimization, including stalking behaviors. Ensuring adequate numbers of women from diverse backgrounds and developing measures that more completely assess the patterns and consequences of women's experiences with violence are important next steps.

Using retrospective data from Korea, multi-variate log-linear analyses indicate that the sex of a child influences the probability of it being breast-fed. Even for women with a living son, there are greater than average odds that they will not breast-feed an infant girl.
