  • Dimensional Structure of the Wais-R

    Open Access•David C Geary, Randolph H Whitworth•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1988

A two-step procedure was used to evaluate the dimensional structure of the WAIS-R. The first step involved the assessment of the goodness-of-fit of various one, two, and three factor models of the WAIS-R, by using confirmatory factor analytic procedures, for a sample of Anglo adults (n = 200). A three-common-factor solution provided the best fit for the Anglo sample data: Verbal Comprehension, Perceptual Organization, and Freedom from Distractabi…

  • Validation of the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children Comparing Anglo and Mexican-American Preschoolers

    Open Access•Randolph H Whitworth, Sabine M Chrisman•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1987

The concurrent validity of the recently developed Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (K-ABC) was assessed by comparing it with the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) using two groups of 30 Anglo and 30 Mexican-American preschoolers as subjects. The correlations between the five K-ABC Scales and the three WPPSI IQs were all positive, most moderately high, with the patterns of high and low relationships very similar f…

  • Cross-Racial Comparison of the Wais and Wais-R

    Open Access•Randolph H Whitworth, Ruth Theresa Gibbons•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1986

This research involved a cross-racial comparison of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) with the revised version, the WAIS-R. Three groups of 25 Anglo, 25 Black, and 25 Mexican-American male college students were administered both versions of the WAIS on the same day, using a procedure that precluded the repetition of identical test items. The data were subjected to multivariate, then univariate, analyses of variance and correlational an…
