United for health to improve urban food environments across five underserved communities
Examining coalition function and maturation in a real-world context reveals important lessons for scholars and practitioners committed to addressing nutrition-related health disparities in marginalized and historically underserved communities. Future work should investigate the sustainability of externally funded cross-sector coalitions after funding ceases

The hospital was a key site in that transformation, shifting from a place of charitable care to a modern technological machine for all patients. Our findings suggest the need to measure perceived and actual barriers to healthy eating among adolescents and to examine the effect of these barriers on dietary behavior. We provide programmatic and policy recommendations

Research Summary The civil gang injunction (CGI) is an increasingly popular suppression strategy. Interviews with 416 youth in areas with and without a CGI suggest that suppression‐oriented injunctions may have little useful impact on gang social dynamics. This article addresses the theoretical background and controversies of social capital in relationship to urban crime. It posits that social capital is a key asset to improving crime prevention. When people and organizations are densely related, it creates high levels of bonding and bridging social capital. This article demonstrates how network analysis can be used to develop a better understanding of a community-based network and steps that might be taken to facilitate network development. The focal network in this study was organized by a local non-profit organization as part of their effort to effect community-level change.
