  • Ancient Mitochondrial Genomes Reveal the Maternal Diversity and Genetic Influence of the Qijia Culture in Prehistoric Eastern Asia

Open Access•Chunxiang Li, Jian Li et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Biological…•2026

  • Integrated osteological and genomic analysis of two individuals from the Ordos Plateau during the Song–Yuan transition

    Open Access•Liang Chen, B L Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2026•Referencias: 4

Integrative bioarchaeology reveals the complex demography of a Song-Yuan frontier fortress. • Genomic evidence reveals significant steppe ancestry, reflecting historical regime shifts. • Skeletal evidence of nutritional stress and reduced stature reveals chronic hardship in females. Two female remains, recovered from water wells at the strategic Yangjiacheng fortress on the Ordos Plateau, were identified as victims hastily abandoned during the in…

  • Bioarchaeological perspectives on the ancient Han-Xiongnu war

Open Access•Pengcheng Ma, Minmin Ma et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2025•Citada por: 3

  • Mitochondrial Genome Analysis of the Late Bronze Age Andronovo Population in Central Tianshan, Xinjiang

Jie Zhang, Xue Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•Human Biology•2023

The Andronovo culture, which originated from the Sintashta culture, played a significant role in the migration of populations across the Eurasian Steppe. The Tianshan Mountains, situated at the eastern end of Eurasian Steppe, became the main distribution area of Andronovo culture in Xinjiang during the Late Bronze Age. To investigate the genetic structure, genetic diversity, and possible migration routes of the Late Bronze Age Andronovo populatio…

  • Attribution of extreme precipitation in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River during May 2016

Open Access•Chunxiang Li, Qinhua Tian et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2017

May 2016 was the third wettest May on record since 1961 over central eastern China based on station observations, with total monthly rainfall 40% more than the climatological mean for 1961–2013. Accompanying disasters such as waterlogging, landslides and debris flow struck part of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Causal influence of anthropogenic forcings on this event is investigated using the newly updated Met Office Hadley Centre system…

  • Ancient DNA analysis of Panicum miliaceum (broomcorn millet) from a Bronze Age cemetery in Xinjiang, China

    Open Access•Chunxiang Li, Yu Dong et al.•ARTICLE•Vegetation History and…•2016•Citada por: 8•Referencias: 3

  • Low Mitochondrial DNA Diversity in an Ancient Population from China

    Thedore G Schurr, Yu Dong et al.•ARTICLE•Human Biology•2015•Citada por: 9•Referencias: 2

In a previous study of Southeast Asian genetic variation, we characterized mitochondrial DNAs (mtDNAs) from six populations through high-resolution restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis. Our analysis revealed that these Southeast Asian populations were genetically similar to each other, suggesting they had a common origin. However, other patterns of population associations also emerged. Haplotypes from a major founding haplogro…

  • Early Eurasian migration traces in the Tarim Basin revealed by mtDNA polymorphisms

Open Access•Yinqiu Cui, Chunxiang Li et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2010

The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) polymorphisms of 58 samples from the Daheyan village located in the central Taklamakan Desert of the Tarim Basin were determined in this study. Among the 58 samples, 29 haplotypes belonging to 18 different haplogroups were analyzed. Almost all the mtDNAs belong to a subset of either the defined Western or Eastern Eurasian pool. Extensive Eastern Eurasian lineages exist in the Daheyan population in which Northern‐prev…

  • Ancient DNA analysis of desiccated wheat grains excavated from a Bronze Age cemetery in Xinjiang

    Open Access•Chunxiang Li, Diane L Lister et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2010•Citada por: 23•Referencias: 1

  • Origins of the Workers Who Built the First Qin Emperor's Mausoleum Revealed by Mitochondrial DNA

Yuan Yuan, Zhi Xu et al.•ARTICLE•Communication on Contemporary…•2009

Ancient DNA analyses are always employed to reveal the ethnic origins of the ancient human remains. In this paper, we analyzed 19 human bone remains excavated from a tomb near the Qin Dynasty's Terra-Cotta Warriors and dated some 2,200 years before present. There samples were supposed to be workers building the mausoleum for the First Emperor of China. The polymorphisms in the first hypervariable region and coding regions of mitochondrial DNA wer…

  • Ancient DNA analysis of human remains from the upper capital city of Kublai Khan

Open Access•Yuqin Fu, Chengzhi Xie et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2009•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 15

Analysis of DNA from human archaeological remains is a powerful tool for reconstructing ancient events in human history. To help understand the origin of the inhabitants of Kublai Khan's Upper Capital in Inner Mongolia, we analyzed mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) polymorphisms in 21 ancient individuals buried in the Zhenzishan cemetery of the Upper Capital. MtDNA coding and noncoding region polymorphisms identified in the ancient individuals were chara…
