Whitney Moret, Marjorie Swann et al.•ARTICLE•Development in Practice•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 3

Using qualitative methods, this article examines savings groups that have been in operation for five to ten years in Tanzania to understand internal and external factors influencing savings group longevity and explore member perception of how long-term participation affected the well-being of their households and children. Although groups did not consistently adhere to best practices, they viewed good leadership, trust, and love as the most impor…

  • Economic strengthening for HIV testing and linkage to care

    Marjorie Swann•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2018

Delayed HIV diagnosis and enrollment in HIV care can lead to negative health outcomes for individuals and pose major barriers to achieving the UNAIDS 90-90-90 treatment targets. Household economic strengthening (HES) initiatives are increasingly used to alleviate the direct and indirect costs of HIV testing and linkage to care for those who are diagnosed. The evidence linking HES with a range of HIV outcomes is growing, and this evidence review a…

A range of economic interventions focused on vulnerable households and individuals – here collectively referred to as household economic strengthening (HES) – aim to address economic wellbeing and influence the economic determinants of HIV. Increasingly implemented as part of multi-sectoral programs, HES interventions have the potential to mitigate HIV-related risk behaviors and improve care and treatment outcomes. • Vegetable Love

    Open Access•Marjorie Swann•CHAPTER•Indistinct Human in Renaissance…•2012

In Andrew Marvell's famous poem "To His Coy Mistress," the speaker tries to persuade a tenaciously reluctant woman to jump into bed with him. If life were not so short, if "Time's wingèd chariot" were not always "hurrying near," the woman's pursuit of delayed gratification would be appropriate, indeed natural. In a perfect world where love could flourish without sexual consummation, Marvell's speaker acknowledges, "My vegetable love should grow /…

This ambitious, wide-ranging study of sexuality, aesthetics, and epistemology covers everything from the aesthetics of war to the works of Caravaggio, Michelangelo, Christopher Marlowe, and Francis Bacon, synthesizing queer theory and psychoanalysis and demonstrating the role of the body and the flesh as both a problem and a promise within the narrative arts

  • The Politics of Fairylore in Early Modern English Literature

    Open Access•Marjorie Swann•ARTICLE•Renaissance Quarterly•2000•Cited by: 1•References: 2

This essay argues that Stuart fairy poetry, rooted in Shakespeare's innovative representation of tiny, consumeristic fairies, attempts to indigenize new forms of elite material display. Rather than the fairies of popular tradition or courtly mythography, Stuart poets depict miniaturized Mabs and Oberons who are notable for their wardrobes, banquets, coaches, and the decor of their palaces. The fairy poetry of William Browne, Michael Drayton, and …
