  • A Rare Mitochondrial DNA Haplotype Observed in Koreans

    Niina Snall, Marja-Liisa Savontaus et al.•ARTICLE•Human Biology•2002•Cited by: 2

The haplogroup affiliations of Korean mitochondrial DNAs (mtDNAs) were determined by restriction analysis. Out of the 101 mtDNAs analyzed, 91 (90%) belonged to Asian-specific haplogroups M, C, D, G, A, B, and F. Haplogroup E was not detected among the Korean mtDNAs. Three mtDNAs represented an unusual mtDNA haplotype characterized by simultaneous presence of E and G haplogroup-specific polymorphisms. To characterize this haplotype in more detail,…

  • Images of shadowing and interpreting

Jorma Tommola, Matti Laine et al.•ARTICLE•Interpreting International…•2000•References: 2

We begin by noting that, in addition to the more or less established trends of cognitive modelling and neurolinguistic or behavioural experimentation, a more recent orientation in research on interpreting (IR) as a complex cognitive process is functional neuroimaging. We then describe current brain imaging methods — electroencephalography, magnetoencephalography, positron emission tomography, functional magnetic resonance imaging, and near-infrar…
