  • Evaluation of baseline frequency of sister chromatid exchanges in an Italian population according to age, sex, smoking habits, and gene polymorphisms

Open Access•Todd Oakley, Alfredo Santovito et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•2017

  • Baseline frequency of chromosomal aberrations and sister chromatid exchanges in peripheral blood lymphocytes of healthy individuals living in Turin (North-Western Italy)

Open Access•Alfredo Santovito, Piero Cervella et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2015

The CAs background frequency observed in this study is one of the highest reported among European populations. Turin is one of the most polluted cities in Europe in terms of air fine PM10 and ozone and the clastogenic potential of these pollutants may explain the high frequencies of chromosomal rearrangements reported here

  • Alu insertion polymorphisms in four ethnic groups from northern Ivory Coast

Open Access•Alfredo Santovito, Piero Cervella et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropological Science•2014

Patterns of genetic variation among geographically and ethnically diverse African populations have been under-represented in human genetics studies despite their importance for describing the evolutionary history of modern human populations. We conducted a study on 133 individuals, belonging to four northern Ivorian ethnic groups, based on the allele distribution of 11 Alu insertion loci, and compared the results with other African populations. A…

  • Polymorphic Alu insertions in five North‐West Italian populations

Open Access•Alfredo Santovito, A Selvaggi et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•2007

We analyzed the frequencies of eight human polymorphic Alu insertion loci in population samples from five towns in North‐West Italy: Postua, Cavaglià, Biella, Torino, and Genova. All loci under scrutiny were found to be polymorphic in all samples, with the two exceptions of locus A25 in Postua, which was fixed for the absence of the Alu element, and APO in Genova, where the Alu insertion was fixed. Heterozigosity values were highly variable in al…

  • Allelic frequencies at the ACE and LRPAP1 loci suggest age-related relationships in a Northern Italian population

Open Access•Alfredo Santovito, Claudio Bulgarello et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2007

The present work attempts to determine the distribution of ACE and LRPAP1 genotypes and allele frequencies in a sample of the population of north-western Italy and to examine the age-related association of these polymorphisms. ACE D allele frequency found in this work further confirms data obtained in previous studies of Northern Italian populations. Regarding the LRPAP1 gene, high frequencies of the deleted allele in European populations were al…

  • Mitochondrial Sequences as Indicators of Genetic Classification in Bush Babies

    Open Access•Massimiliano Delpero, Judith C Masters et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2000•Cited by: 8•References: 27

  • Phylogenetic relationships among Malagasy lemurs as revealed by mitochondrial DNA sequence analysis

Open Access•M Del Pero, Sergio Crovella et al.•ARTICLE•Primates•1995

  • Comparative analysis of DNA restriction patterns ofHomo, Pan troglodytes eMacaca fascicularis after hybridization with human genomic probes

    Open Access•Sergio Crovella, G Ardito et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1991

In the present work, Eco RI digested genomic DNA fromMacaca fascicularis, Pan troglodytes and Man were hybridized with three human probes (β1-Integrin, pAW101; anderb-B2) and the relative restriction patterns are presented. After hybridization with theβ1-Integrin probe it was possible to demonstrate a high intraspecific variability in the Macaca and Pan sample, while the other two probes utilized didn’t show any difference among the different spe…
