  • Altered Metabolomics in Bipolar Depression With Gastrointestinal Symptoms

Open Access•Xiangjie Guo, Yanbing Xiong et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

BD patients with GI symptoms exhibited disturbances in fatty acid and tyrosine metabolism, perhaps suggesting that the GI symptoms in BD patients are related to disturbances of the gut microbiome. Both groups of patients jointly exhibit disturbances of ketone body metabolism, which may serve as a biomarker for the pathogenesis of BD patients

  • Pre- and Post-treatment Levels of Plasma Metabolites in Patients With Bipolar Depression

Open Access•Xiang-jie Guo, Xiangjie Guo et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2021

Background: Bipolar disorder (BD) is a serious mental disease with complex clinical manifestations and high recurrence rate. The purpose of this study was to detect metabolites related to the diagnosis and efficacy evaluation of bipolar depression in plasma samples by metabolomics. Methods: Thirty-one bipolar depression patients were recruited and completed 8 weeks medication and a matched group of 47 healthy controls (HCs) was recruited. Nuclear…

  • Synchronization Stability Model of Complex Brain Networks

Open Access•Guimei Yin, Haifang Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2020

In this paper, from the perspective of complex network dynamics we investigated the formation of the synchronization state of the brain networks. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory of complex networks, a synchronous steady-state model suitable for application to complex dynamic brain networks was proposed. The synchronization stability problem of brain network state equation was transformed into a convex optimization problem with Block Coordi…

  • JC Virus Genotypes in the Western Pacific Suggest Asian Mainland Relationships and Virus Association with Early Population Movements

    Richard Yanagihara, Vivek R Nerurkar et al.•ARTICLE•Human Biology•2002•Cited by: 8•References: 2

Distinct genotypes of human polyomavirus JC (JCV) have remained population associated possibly from the time of dispersal of modern humans from Africa. Seven major genotypes with additional subtypes serve as plausible markers for following early and more recent human migrations in all parts of the world. Phylogenetic trees of JCV sequences from the major continental population groups show a trifurcation at the base indicating early division into …
