  • Experimenting With Gamification and Geogames in Urban Planning: A Systematic Literature Review

Open Access•Michael Crilly, Georgiana Varna et al.•ARTICLE•Urban Planning•2026

This systematic literature review examines the complex intersection of gamification and urban planning with particular attention to the interrelated fields of experimental urbanism, systems theory, digitalization of the urban planning system, game theory, and agent‐based modelling. As such, this article addresses the critical gap of an existing systematic and detailed literature review in this emerging area of using geogames in urban planning res…

  • Collaborative Care for Anxiety: Differences in Patient and Clinic-Level Characteristics on Treatment Outcomes in a Safety-Net Hospital System

Open Access•Marsha Stern, Tianwen Ma et al.•ARTICLE•Community Mental Health Journal•2025•References: 33

  • The State of Black Quarterback Media Depictions in the NFL: Reasons for Both Celebration and Concern

Andrew C Billings, Emily Dirks et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Broadcasting &…•2024

A total of 64 games (roughly 200 hours of broadcast game content) of the first 4 weeks of the 2023–2024 NFL season was analyzed. While the majority of taxonomical areas yielded no significant differences, four areas were notable deviations as (a) quarterbacks of color were more likely than White quarterbacks to have their successes attributed to running ability, (b) White quarterbacks were more likely than quarterbacks of color to have their fail…

  • Sequencing the Steps to War

    Douglas B Atkinson, Andrew P Owsiak et al.•ARTICLE•International Interactions•2024•References: 19

According to the steps-to-war theory, the probability of war between two states rises as the involved states take four distinct steps—namely, initiate a territorial disagreement, enter a rivalry relationship, secure defensive allies, and initiate an arms race with one another. Our study explores the relationships between these four steps in greater detail. In particular, we ask whether the steps to war might unfold in a predictable (modal) sequen…

  • Persuading republicans and democrats to comply with mask wearing: An intervention tournament

    Open Access•Michele J Gelfand, Michele Gelfand et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Experimental Social…•2022•Cited by: 8•References: 39

  • Getting to the Root of the Issue(s): Expanding the Study of Issues in MIDs (the MID-Issue Dataset, Version 1.0)

Open Access•Joshua Jackson, Joshua Lee Monogan Jackson et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Conflict Resolution•2022•Cited by: 3•References: 20

Because existing issue classification schemes omit prominent issues (e.g., domestic armed conflict) or contain significant within-category heterogeneity, theorizing about the role of issues in international conflict processes has stagnated. Our project jump-starts it again, by independently—and systematically—reconceptualizing and gathering data on five issues connected to dyadic militarized interstate disputes (MIDs) during the period 1900–2010:…

  • Cherokee Historical Fiction and Indigenous Science Fiction in Riding the Trail of Tears

    Open Access•Joshua Jackson, Joshua Ryan Jackson et al.•ARTICLE•MELUS Multi-Ethnic Literature of…•2021•References: 9

Turning to Indigenous genre theory, this article interprets Blake M. Hausman's Riding the Trail of Tears (2011) as a work of both Indigenous science fiction and Cherokee historical fiction. By defying the temporal constraints of science fiction and historical fiction, as conventionally defined, the novel imagines Cherokee people effectively resisting Removal via digital, Cherokee-made technology and reclaiming Cherokee historical lands. To unders…

  • Perceived Openness to Experience Accounts for Religious Homogamy

Open Access•Joshua Conrad Jackson, Joshua Jackson et al.•ARTICLE•Social Psychological and…•2015

Two studies tested the hypothesis that religious homogamy—assortative mating on the basis of religion—can be partly explained by inferences about religious individuals’ openness to experience, rather than attitudes toward religion per se. Results of Study 1 indicated that non-religious participants perceived non-religious targets to be higher in openness and more appealing as romantic partners, with the first effect statistically accounting for t…
