  • Curbing environmental degradation in Oceanic-Asia: Does innovation matter

Open Access•Hammed Oluwaseyi Musibau, Festus Fatai Adedoyin et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy•2025•References: 1

This study investigates how innovation moderates the relationshipbetween energy use and environmental degradation across 45 Oceanic-Asian countries from 1990 to 2018. Anchored in the energy-led degradation hypothesis and using carbon dioxide emissions as a proxy for environmental harm, we apply a battery of econometric techniques, including bootstrap OLS, to unbalanced panel data. Results consistently show that renewable energy significantly redu…

  • Evaluating the Nonlinear Population-Economic Growth Nexus in Mena Countries

Open Access•Ismail Mohamed BENGANA, Bosede Ngozi Adeleye et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ecohumanism•2024

The relation between population growth and economic growth is a complex one, and the historical quantitative evidence is ambiguous. This study contributes to the population-economic growth literature by interrogating whether the relationship is monotonic or if a turning point exists. Using panel data on a sample of 19 MENA countries from 1965 to 2018 and deploying the PSCE and FGLS techniques, the results reveal inter alia: (1) a U-shaped relatio…

  • Income Inequality, Human Capital and Institutional Quality in Sub-Saharan Africa

    Open Access•Bosede Ngozi Adeleye•ARTICLE•Social Indicators Research•2023•References: 7

This paper aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 10 to investigate the role of quality institutions in the human capital-income inequality nexus. It uses an unbalanced panel data on the Gini index (measure of income inequality), human capital index and institutional quality index on 46 sub-Saharan African countries from 2010 to 2019. The Driscoll and Kraay (Rev Econ Stat 80:549–560, 1998) panel spatial correlation consistent (PSCC) and Firpo e…

  • Services trade–ICT–tourism nexus in selected Asian countries: New evidence from panel data techniques

Muhammad Khalid Anser, Bosede Ngozi Adeleye et al.•ARTICLE•Current Issues in Tourism•2022

Consistent with the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8 (implement policies to promote sustainable tourism), 9 (provide infrastructure for universal and affordable access to the Internet), and 17 (promote international trade), this study interrogates the services trade-ICT nexus on sustainable tourism in Asia. Using an unbalanced panel data on 44 East Asia and Pacific and South Asian countries from 2010 to 2019 it probes the discou…

  • Who is Trading Well with China? A Gravity and Constant Market Share Analysis of Exports of Pakistan and Asean in the Chinese Market

Open Access•Muhammad Abdul Kamal, Unbreen Qayyum et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Asian and African…•2022•References: 41

This paper empirically investigated the trade competitiveness and trade potential of Pakistan and ASEAN countries in the Chinese market. The study utilizes trade data for the period of 2003-2019 to assess the bilateral trade aspects by using an extended gravity equation. In addition, the PPML model and constant market share analysis are applied to examine trade potential and competitiveness, respectively. Market size, distance, trade openness, re…

  • Does Human Capital Tilt the Population-Economic Growth Dynamics? Evidence from Middle East and North African Countries

Open Access•Bosede Ngozi Adeleye, Ismail Bengana et al.•ARTICLE•Social Indicators Research•2022•Cited by: 5•References: 76

  • Internationalization–Industrial output nexus: Evidence from 15 late‐industrialized economies

    Open Access•Bosede Ngozi Adeleye, A Sankaran et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Public Affairs•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 14

The paper empirically examines the internationalization‐output nexus in 15 late‐industrialized countries from 1976 to 2018 using fixed and random effects techniques. The findings reveal that trade openness negatively impacts the industrial output, while the labor force shows a positive and statistically significant impact. Domestic investment and education show negligible and insignificant positive and negative impacts on output, respectively. In…

  • The determinants and interrelationship of carbon emissions and economic growth in African economies: Fresh insights from static and dynamic models

Open Access•Solomon Prince Nathaniel, Suborna Barua et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Public Affairs•2020•Cited by: 3•References: 7

This study explores the interrelationship between CO 2 emissions and economic growth in selected Africa economies from 1990 to 2014 providing evidence from both static and dynamic models. Results show that increases in energy use have a significant and positive effect on economic growth; which goes to show that growth in Africa is actually energy dependent. Further findings suggest that CO 2 emissions have no significant contemporaneous effect, h…

  • Investigating the causality between financial inclusion, financial development and sustainable development in Sub‐Saharan Africa economies: The mediating role of foreign direct investment

Open Access•Jamiu Adetola Odugbesan, George N Ike et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Public Affairs•2020•Cited by: 1•References: 6

In developing economies, the role of the financial sector and foreign capital in the stimulation of sustainable production practices has not been very clear cut. In a bid to obtain a much clearer empirical perspective, the present study investigates the causal relationship between financial development, financial inclusion, foreign direct investment (FDI) and sustainable development in a panel of 33 Sub‐Saharan African (SSA) economies within the …
