A Re‐conceptualization of ‘Reverse Mission’ for International Social Work Education and Practice
We explore the concept of ‘reverse mission’ as it appears in the theology and mission studies literature, and examine its utility for international social work education and practice. Next, we highlight an exemplary model of reverse mission and two experiential courses in international social work (one in Mexico and the other in Ghana) that are patterned after it. Interorganizational Collaboratives for Children of Prisoners
Almost 1.5 million children in the United States have parents who are incarcerated in prisons. These children are at-risk for juvenile delinquency, failure in school, and residential instability. Efforts to locate and provide services to these children require cooperation from a range of social institutions that historically have not worked together. This article describes two collaboratives organized to identify and address the needs of these ch…
Empowering Students in a Feminist Social Work Practice Course
Since 1993, a faculty collective has team-taught a feminist social work practice course. The course, designed to heighten student knowledge of feminist practice, was expected to empower students. An overview of the course is presented with an analysis of its impact on student perceptions of personal and professional power. Pre and post measures of empowerment were analyzed and used to derive outcome measures of change in student views of themselv…

This paper adds to the literature on field instruction and supervision of social work practicum students by nonMSW professionals. It shares insights gained from a focus group discussion of professionals' experiences with practica when there was no MSW on site.
