The Objectives of Belhar’s Confession(1982)
본문은 20세기 남아프리카의 왜곡된 사회정책으로 악명 높았던 아파르트헤이트에 대한 저항을 선포했던 벨하의 신앙고백을 살펴보고 있다. 그 정책적 시작과 종결에서 그리스도교 교회가 결정적 역할을 수행했던 과거에 대한 비판적 시각을 참고하며 본문은 그 특징과 대응을 세가지 측면으로 관찰하고 있다. 첫째, 인종차별에 기초한 상황의 한계를 초래한 왜곡된 신학적 해석과 영향사에 대한 비판적 지적을 살펴보고 있다. 명시적 사회적 억압과 분열을 추구했던 이 정책은 애석하게도 19세기 근대의 유산을 이어받은 교회의 산물로 평가되곤 한다. 이 정책의 제안과 관철에 목회자들의 역할이 결정적이었던 사실은 왜곡된 시대정신을 여과없이 수용할 때 교회가 잘못된 결정을 도출할 수 있음을 보여주고 있다. 둘째, 이 정책과 영향사의 극복에 교회가 결정적 역할을 수행했던 사실 역시 교회의 신학이 상황극복의 희망으로 자리매김할 수…
