The idea of 'exiting' the sex industry plays a powerful symbolic role in the feminist debates around the morality, legitimacy and regulation of sex work. The Girl in the Cellar: Media Representations of Natascha Kampusch
This article examines the media coverage of the Natascha Kampusch case, a high-profile Austrian abduction case, in a sample of 355 newspaper articles from 21 English language newspapers over a four-year period, from 2006 to 2010. Natascha Kampusch was kidnapped by Wolfgang Priklopil in 1998, when she was 10 years old. Eight years after her abduction, Kampusch escaped. Priklopil committed suicide later that day.
