  • Neonatal mortality as a sentinel indicator for health system performance

Open Access•Zuyao Rao, Dandan Yin et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2026

Background: This study aims to research short-term disequilibrium adjustments and long-term cointegration relationships among the maternal mortality ratio (MMR), under-five mortality rate (U5MR), infant mortality rate (IMR), and neonatal mortality rate (NMR), while evaluating the contributions of pivotal health policies and service coverage. Methods: Using nationally representative longitudinal data (1991-2023), this study applied Joinpoint regre…

  • Global, regional, and national total burden related to hepatitis B and attributable risk factors in adults aged 65 years and older from 1990 to 2021 and projection to 2030

Open Access•Linying Gao, Yanfeng Ren et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Background: Hepatitis B virus and its complications remain a major global public health threat. Methods: Drawing upon the Global Burden of Diseases (GBD) 2021, we obtained the data on incidence, prevalence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) fr…

  • The disease burden of pneumoconiosis in China from 1990 to 2021 and projection to 2050 based on GBD 2021

Open Access•Xiangwen Gong, Kaiwang Cui et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Background: Pneumoconiosis is a serious occupational disease with high incidence and prevalence in China. This study aimed to describe the long-term trends in the burden of pneumoconiosis and its epidemiological characteristics in China over the past 30 years. Methods: Data from this cross-sectional study were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021 study. Joinpoint was used to calculate the annual average percentage change (AAPC), …

  • Spatiotemporal dynamics of land surface temperature and its drivers within the local climate zone framework

Open Access•Weiting Xiong, Qianlei Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2025

  • Global and national burden of falls among individuals aged 55 years and older (1990–2021)

Open Access•Weiwei Wu, Bole Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

Falls represent a major and growing public health challenge among older adults worldwide, with pronounced disparities across sex and socioeconomic levels. There is an urgent need for targeted prevention strategies and enhanced resource allocation-particularly in low SDI settings-to reduce the health impact of falls in aging populations

  • Association of waist-to-hip ratio adjusted for body mass index with cognitive impairment in middle-aged and elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Open Access•Tong Chen, Yanlan Liu et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

Our study illustrated that higher WHRadjBMI is likely to be associated with an increased risk of CI among patients with T2DM. These findings support the detrimental effects of excess visceral fat accumulation on cognitive function in middle-aged and elderly T2DM patients

  • Global, regional, and national total burden related to hepatitis B in children and adolescents from 1990 to 2021

Open Access•Jingbo Li, Jinbo Li et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

The global burden and trends of hepatitis B decreased significantly in children and adolescents, exhibiting regional and national variations. Management of alcohol and drug use remains a major challenge for people aged 15-19 years

This study is to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of other infectious diarrhea diseases (OIDDs) reported in Guangzhou in the past 15 years and the meteorological data of the city in the same period, to explore the correlation between meteorological factors and the incidence. Methodology . This study starts with using quartiles to test the normal distribution of case data. This study has selected five meteorological factors…

  • Development Process, Quantitative Models, and Future Directions in Driving Analysis of Urban Expansion

Open Access•Xuefeng Guan, Jingbo Li et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2023

Driving analysis of urban expansion (DAUE) is usually implemented to identify the driving factors and their corresponding driving effects/mechanisms for the expansion processes of urban land, aiming to provide scientific guidance for urban planning and management. Based on a thorough analysis and summarization of the development process and quantitative models, four major limitations in existing DAUE studies have been uncovered: (1) the interacti…
