Two Decades of Reflection and Critique. The Continuous Fear of Replacement—The Renaissance of Feeling and Intuition in the Age of Artificial Intelligence in Qualitative Sociology Review (2005–2025)
On the twentieth anniversary of Qualitative Sociology Review (QSR), this article offers a critical and autoethnographic reflection on how qualitative sociology has responded to technological innovation over the past two decades. I argue that the recurring fear of replacement, first by online publishing, then by CAQDAS software, and now by Artificial Intelligence (AI), reveals a persistent disciplinary anxiety. Anxiety that qualitative sociologist…
Od analityczności do empatyczności – dwadzieścia lat przemiany z „Przeglądem Socjologii Jakościowej”
Artykuł stanowi autoetnograficzną refleksję nad przemianą tożsamości badawczej autora w kontekście dwudziestu lat istnienia „Przeglądu Socjologii Jakościowej”. Opisując drogę od analityczności – rozumianej jako uporządkowana, metodyczna i „obiektywizująca” postawa badawcza – ku empatyczności, zakorzenionej we współodczuwaniu, obecności i relacyjności, autor ukazuje wewnętrzne napięcia i epistemologiczno-etyczne dylematy, jakie towarzyszą tej tran…
Metafory w praktyce dydaktycznej (i badawczej).
To Be an Autoethnographer or Not to Be—That Is the Question
It is the most personal article I have ever written, revealing my fears, hesitations, reflections, and decisions. I am still striving to write a scientific and academic paper, still looking for that academic framework that would allow this article to be recognized as a scientific text, with the reflection on that internal pressure and need to make it scientific. This is an article about the process of becoming an autoethnographer, creating a tool…
The Social Organization of Merchants’ Activities. An Interactionist Study of Urban Marketplaces
The article briefly presents the empirical results of a large research project focused on Polish urban marketplaces, commonly known as bazaars, and their interactional order. Due to the spatial separation and legal regulations concerning bazaar trade, a relatively constant community of market vendors is created in the area of the particular marketplace. The primary activity of each merchant is to offer and sell goods; however, the specificity of …
