  • Mapping Culture and Sustainability

Open Access•Hans Dam Christensen, Lisa Gjedde et al.•ARTICLE•Nordisk Museologi•2026

The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) address broad environmental, economic and social sustainability concerns. The inclusion of culture was part of the debate until the adoption of the SDGs in 2015. Among other things, the complexity of the meaning of culture alone, and in combination with sustainability, made this inclusion challenging. Along the way, there have been several attempts to define cultural sustainability and make the compos…

• Public art projects in exposed social housing areas in Denmark – dilemmas and potentials

    Open Access•Birgit Eriksson, Anne Scott Sørensen•ARTICLE•Journal of AESTHETICS & CULTURE•2021•References: 3

Western European cultural policies increasingly target marginalized and socially deprived communities. In Denmark, this happens in the political and discursive context of the so-called “ghetto act” (2018), a set of laws and amendments aimed at radically changing low-income public housing neighbourhoods with a high percentage of “non-Western” residents. Consequential, several Danish public housing neighbourhoods undergo drastic renovation and demo…

  • “Participation” - The new cultural policy and communication agenda

    Open Access•Anne Scott Sørensen•ARTICLE•Nordisk kulturpolitisk tidskrift•2016

In this opening article we investigate the participatory agenda in Nordic cultural policies from a critical perspective and then introduce the articles that make up this thematic issue. In different ways, all the articles examine the effects of the shift towards participation in national cultural policies and how it is translated at regional, local and institutional policy levels. The articles raise concerns about the relationship between democra…

    Open Access•Anne Scott Sørensen•ARTICLE•Culture Unbound Journal of…•2013•References: 4

In this article, I address the current state of cultural studies in Northern Europe and more specifically in the Nordic countries, especially in Denmark. I take my point of departure in offering an answer to the question, what is cultural studies anyhow? and raise some questions about its future directions. From that, I then discuss how we can reason about regional cultural studies since in so doing we are caught in a dilemma: on the one hand, it…

Det vil jeg gøre på baggrund af en kvalitativ undersøgelse fra 2010, hvortil informanterne blev rekrutteret via et survey. Undersøgelsen afdækker tre dilemmaer, der u…

Weblogging (or blogging) is one the social media, characteristic of the web 2.0 generation. In this article, I will present a research on the Danish blogosphere, the focus of which has been on individual and personal blogging. Inspired by media geography, I pursue the idea that personal blogging can be understood as an embodied, collaborative and distributed practice which constitutes a digital realm to be inhabited by its users. It is arguedthat the assemblage forms an experiment to materialize present theories of radicaldemocracy and the radical art institution, respectively, and take the form of apara-institutional artivism.
