  • Main Territories in South Norway in the Mesolithic

    Open Access•Lotte Selsing•ARTICLE•Environmental Archaeology•2020•Cited by: 1•References: 37

The focus of this paper is on regionality, the use of main territories and how they are interlinked in the Mesolithic in south Norway during the culmination of the settlement of the mountain area, 8500–7600 cal BP. The main territories and their boundaries are identified by the distribution of specific lithic raw materials and one artefact type, distribution of ungulates and drainage systems. In the Mesolithic, south Norway corresponds to a langu…

  • People and fire management in South Norway during the Lateglacial

    Open Access•Lotte Selsing•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2018•References: 59

  • Maritime Site Protection and the Fetch Method: An example from Rogaland, Norway

Open Access•Marianne Nitter, Endre Elvestad et al.•ARTICLE•The International Journal of…•2012•References: 4

Predictions of future requirements for the protection of maritime archaeological sites are made using the fetch method which has been developed to evaluate the quality of landing-places and navigable channels. The very useful method may explain why archaeological sites along the coast are rare in some areas, but numerous in others. Many of them are vulnerable to destruction by the effects of climate change, especially rising sea-levels, based on …

  • The Early Settlement of South Norway after the Last Deglaciation: A Diasporic Perspective

    Lotte Selsing•ARTICLE•Norwegian Archaeological Review•2012•Cited by: 2•References: 69

Based on a theoretical approach of diaspora theory and the use of ethnographical comparative analysis, it is argued that the early settlement of South Norway probably brought about diasporic conditions. Archaeological and natural science records are applied to discuss the migrations of mobile hunter-gatherers with a shamanistic reindeer culture from the Continent, after deglaciation of the Weichselian ice cap. This paper discusses the diasporic p…

  • Using dBase II for Retrieval of Radiocarbon Data

    Open Access•Lotte Selsing, Aud Simonsen•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1986•Cited by: 2•References: 1

A “C14” data base has been created for internal use of 14 C dates with an Osborne-1 system. It uses a CP/M operating system, Z-80 CPU, and dBASE II software program. The structure meets the users’ requirements of information and easy retrieval. The video display is quite compact, as a record of 32 fields is edited to fill a screen of 22 lines. A standard printout is edited to make room for two records per page and contains all information from th…
