Public Perceptions of Whistleblowing
This article reports the results of a two-pronged exploration of public perceptions of whistleblowing, the first using a statewide public opinion poll, and the second, a laboratory experiment in which a multistage scenario determined respondents’ support for an employee’s protest actions and their classification of the employee as a whistleblower. One substantial finding is that self-interest taints the purity of the employee’s motivation making …

We surveyed I owa caucus goers and other R epublicans to assess how representative the 2012 caucuses were of R epublicans in I owa. We find that demographically and ideologically, people reporting they would attend the caucus were quite similar to self‐identified I owa R epublicans who said they would not caucus. We then model outcomes in I owa and N ew H ampshire as a function of mass media expectations and find the model predicts M itt R omney'…

As the 2008 presidential nominating process got underway, Iowa's coveted status as first-in-the-nation appeared increasingly in jeopardy, as states engaged in aggressive frontloading throughout 2006 and 2007.
