  • Don't Argue, Reflect! Reflections on Introducing Reflective Writing into Political Science Courses

    Open Access•Jim Josefson•ARTICLE•PS Political Science & Politics•2005•Cited by: 1•References: 11

In this article, I discuss an alternative way of conceptualizing and structuring essay assignments in political science courses. Open Access•Jim Josefson•ARTICLE•Party Politics•2000•Cited by: 4•References: 12

I provide a theory for understanding the stability of partisanship using the self-categorization theory developed by John Turner and his colleagues. This provides firmer theoretical ground for the prevalent view that partisanship instability should follow partisan dealig…

  • A critique of Rawls's hermeneutics as translation

    Open Access•Jim Josefson, Jonathan Bach•ARTICLE•Philosophy & Social Criticism•1997

This paper seeks to demonstrate that hermeneutics is a powerful conceptual tool for exploring the current trend towards theorizing justice as a conversation. Specifically we explore the work of John Rawls in order to describe the particular variety of hermeneu tics at work in both 'political liberalism' and 'justice as fairness' and to critique this hermeneutics from the perspective of the ontological hermeneutics of Hans-Georg Gadamer. Using the…
