  • On the Chalcolithic plant economy of the Hârşova-tell settlement (Romania): Recent archaeobotanical results

Open Access•R Hovsepyan, Ramon Buxó Capdevila et al.•ARTICLE•Cercetări Arheologice•2020

Numerous remains of cultivated plants were recovered from the Boian, Gumelniţa and Cernavodă culture archaeological sediments of the Hârșova-tell, situated on the right bank of the Danube River. The archaeological stratigraphy here represents all Copper Age evolution in this region (Boian, Hamangia, Gumelniţa and Cernavodă I cultures (5th millennium BC)). These archaeobotanical findings give evidence that agriculture was an important direction of…

Open Access•Jean‐frédéric Terral, Natàlia Alonso et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Biogeography•2004

Aim This study intends to improve our understanding of historical biogeography of olive domestication in the Mediterranean Basin, particularly in the north‐western area. Location Investigations were performed simultaneously on olive stones from extant wild populations, extant cultivated varieties from various Mediterranean countries, and archaeological assemblages of Spanish, French and Italian settlements. • Evidence for vines and ancient cultivation from an urban area, Lattes (Hérault), southern France

    Open Access•Ramon Buxó Capdevila, Ramón Buxo I Capdevila•ARTICLE•Antiquity•1996•Cited by: 2•References: 3

From Lattes, an ancient port on the low Languedoc coast of Mediterranean France, comes the material for an archaeobotanical study of the last centuries BC and the first AD. It illustrates the complexity of ways in which seeds are incorporated into urban deposits, where they are informative about cereals and vines in the town and in the countryside

  • Notes préliminaires sur les fouilles en cours sur la terrasse d'Hayonim

    François Valla, F R Valla et al.•ARTICLE•Paléorient•1989•Cited by: 22

Excavations were resumed at Hayonim terrace in 1980. The uppermost structures are of Byzantine to Chalcolithic Age. Late Natufian layers were uncovered underneath. The remnants of a house and its surroundings, with one built pit, one large limestone mortar and two burials seem to pertain to the same stratigraphie horizon. Some wild barley was found associated with the fill of this occupation level. Among other structures, still of Late Natufian t…
