  • Late Quaternary deglaciation of Prince William Sound, Alaska

    Open Access•Peter J Haeussler, Ari Matmon et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2022

To understand the timing of deglaciation of the northernmost marine-terminating glaciers of the Cordilleran Ice Sheet (CIS), we obtained 26 10 Be surface-exposure ages from glacially scoured bedrock surfaces in Prince William Sound (PWS), Alaska. We sampled six elevation transects between sea level and 620 m and spanning a distance of 14 to 70 km along ice flow paths. Most transect age–elevation patterns could not be explained by a simple model o…

  • Comment on “A multidisciplinary overview of the lower Miño River terrace system (NW Iberian Peninsula)” by E. Méndez-Quintas et al

    Open Access•Willem Viveen, A Veldkamp et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2020

  • Phytoliths indicate significant arboreal cover at Sahelanthropus type locality TM266 in northern Chad and a decrease in later sites

Open Access•Alice Novello, Doris Barboni et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Evolution•2017•Cited by: 8•References: 80

  • New chronology for the southern Kalahari Group sediments with implications for sediment-cycle dynamics and early hominin occupation

    Open Access•Ari Matmon, Alan J Hidy et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2015

Kalahari Group sediments accumulated in the Kalahari basin, which started forming during the breakup of Gondwana in the early Cretaceous. These sediments cover an extensive part of southern Africa and form a low-relief landscape. Current models assume that the Kalahari Group accumulated throughout the entire Cenozoic. However, chronology has been restricted to early–middle Cenozoic biostratigraphic correlations and to OSL dating of only the past …

  • The Early Acheulean technology of Barranc de la Boella (Catalonia, Spain)

    Open Access•M Mosquera, Andreu Ollé et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2015•Cited by: 69•References: 53

  • Holocene rockfalls in the southern Negev Desert, Israel and their relation to Dead Sea fault earthquakes

Open Access•Yair Rinat, Ari Matmon et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2014

Rockfall ages in tectonically active regions provide information regarding frequency and magnitude of earthquakes. In the hyper-arid environment of the Dead Sea fault (DSF), southern Israel, rockfalls are most probably triggered by earthquakes. We dated rockfalls along the western margin of the DSF using terrestrial cosmogenic nuclides (TCN). At each rockfall site, samples were collected from simultaneously exposed conjugate boulders and cliff su…

  • Exposure age chronology of the last glaciation in the eastern Pyrenees

Open Access•Magali Delmas, Yanni Gunnell et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2008

We present a chronology of ice recession in the eastern Pyrenees based on in situ -produced 10 Be data obtained from the Têt paleoglacier complex. The sampling strategy is based on the relative chronology provided by a detailed geomorphological map of glacial landforms. Results indicate that the last maximum ice advance occurred late (i.e., during Marine Isotope Stage 2) compared to the chronology currently established for the rest of the Pyrenee…

  • Measurement of 10 Be and 26 Al with a Tandetron Accelerator Mass Spectrometer Facility

Open Access•Françoise Yiou, Grant Raisbeck et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1986•References: 7

A description is given of the use of a Tandetron accelerator mass spectrometer system for measuring the isotopes 10 Be and 26 Al
