  • LGM erosion and subsequent rapid loess deposition in Trzebnica (SW Poland)

Open Access•Agnieszka Szymak, Zdzisław Jary et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2026

The 7.7-m loess–paleosol sequence in Trzebnica records a short (ca. 3 ka) but intense phase of loess accumulation that preceded the onset of the Weichselian Late Glacial (MIS 2). The stratigraphy contains a well-defined erosional unconformity, marking a hiatus prior to the deposition of the youngest loess unit (L1LL1). The Trzebnica loess contains numerous signals of slope redeposition, as evidenced by lithological indicators. In this paper, we p…

  • High-resolution radiocarbon and OSL cross-dating of Late Pleniglacial to Early Holocene aeolian succession and wildfire dynamics at the Łaskarzew site, eastern Poland

Open Access•Piotr Moska, Natalia Piotrowska et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2026

The chronology of Late Glacial and Early Holocene dune formation and wildfire activity at the Łaskarzew site, eastern Poland, was reconstructed using a combination of accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) radiocarbon dating ( 14 C) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating. The stratigraphic profile records 13 aeolian-soil cycles, characterized by alternating phases of aeolian deposition, soil formation, and wildfire episodes, reflecting t…

  • ΜRate: An online dose rate calculator for trapped charge dating

Open Access•Konrad Tudyka, Michał Koruszowic et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2023•Cited by: 6•References: 49

In this work, we present a new online service for dose rate calculations in trapped charge dating called “μRate”. The app provides a graphical user interface, convenient cloud storage of data, and the ability to exchange data between users. The data records are organised into projects, which can be easily recalculated with modified parameters. Calculations can be carried out for a wide variety of input data originating from different instruments.…

  • An Impact of Short-Term Climate Oscillations in the Late Pleniglacial and Lateglacial Interstadial on Sedimentary Processes and the Pedogenic Record in Central Poland

Piotr Moska, Robert J Sokołowski et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of the American…•2023•References: 63

Environmental studies based on analyses of fluvio-aeolian successions with paleosols in central Poland, forming the central part of the European Sand Belt, are presented. Paleogeographic reconstruction was based on high-resolution analyses of four sites using sedimentological and paleopedological methods as well as forty-four optically stimulated luminescence and fourteen radiocarbon dating measurements. Age-identified individual lithological and…

  • Stratigraphy of the Late Glacial and Holocene aeolian series in different sedimentary zones related to the Last Glacial maximum in Poland

  • Reinterpretation of Fluvial-Aeolian Sediments From Last Glacial Termination Classic Type Localities Using High-Resolution Radiocarbon Data From the Polish Part of the European Sand Belt

    Open Access•Robert J Sokołowski, Piotr Moska et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 63

This paper presents 66 radiocarbon ( 14 C) dates obtained at 33 key sites from the Polish part of the European Sand Belt. These calibrated dating results were compared to 34 high-resolution 14 C dates obtained from a fluvial-aeolian sediments to identify pedogenic phases from the late Pleniglacial interval to the early Holocene. These identified pedogenic phases were correlated with Greenland ice-core records, revealing high sensitivity of the fl…

  • Absolute Dates of Artifacts From Lusatian Urnfield Cemetery at Brzezie, Greater Poland

Open Access•Artur Ginter, Piotr Moska et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 22

Brzezie in the Pleszew region was first mentioned in archaeological literature, as the location where a treasure of gold artifacts dating back to the 3rd period of the Bronze Age was discovered in 1876. Archaeological research has been conducted there almost continuously since 1985. The result of many years of fieldwork is the discovery of 363 late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age graves, as well as 50 burials of the Przeworsk culture from the era o…

  • Combining 137 Cs , 210 Pb and dendrochronology for improved reconstruction of erosion–sedimentation events in a loess gully system (southern Poland)

Open Access•Ireneusz Malik, Grzegorz Poręba et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2021

Detailed knowledge on the past events of erosion and redeposition is necessary to assess the frequency and magnitude of soil degradation and to provide more complete data, among all, to calculate rainfall thresholds and to develop strategies for controlling erosion. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to obtain a more comprehensive and accurate reconstruction of erosion–sedimentation events in a gully system by combining analyses of 137 Cs and 210…
