  • Balancing risks: The impact of top executive turnover on corporate digital transformation

Shihan Li, Qingfu Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Economic and Political Studies•2026

We investigate how internal uncertainty triggered by top executive turnover (TET) disrupts firms’ digital transformation. We find that firms with frequent TET are less likely to engage in digital transformation. The underlying mechanism is that top executives adjust long- and short-term risk-taking strategies and alter the direction of earnings management, thereby delaying digital transformation. Top management team characteristics, such as gende…

Shihan Li, D Krackhardt et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality and Social…•2023

In this study, we seek to understand how stress changes in dynamic social systems. Where prior work on the interpersonal transmission of stress focused on pairs of individuals and small groups, we adopt a network perspective to investigate how the distribution of stress in an individual's social environment influences their stress appraisal process. We conducted a 6-month longitudinal study of 315 early to midcareer adults in professional master'…

  • Observed strong subsurface marine heatwaves in the tropical western Pacific Ocean

Open Access•Shijian Hu, Shihan Li et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2021

Marine heatwaves (MHWs), which are discrete extreme oceanic warming events, have important impacts on the marine ecosystem, fishery resources, and social economy. Previous studies based on sea surface temperature suggest that MHWs in the tropical western Pacific Ocean are very weak. However, here we show that the MHWs observed by the Tropical Atmosphere Ocean/Triangle Trans-Ocean Buoy Network buoys in the tropical western Pacific Ocean are unexpe…
