  • Late Mid-Pleistocene hominin fire control inferred from sooty speleothem analysis

    Open Access•Ségolène Vandevelde, Edwige Pons‐branchu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Method…•2025•References: 42

  • Theoretical Principles and Perspectives of Hyperspectral Imaging Applied to Sediment Core Analysis

Open Access•Kévin Jacq, Maxime Debret et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary•2022

Hyperspectral imaging is a recent technology that has been gaining popularity in the geosciences since the 1990s, both in remote sensing and in the field or laboratory. Indeed, it allows the rapid acquisition of a large amount of data that are spatialized on the studied object with a low-cost, compact, and automatable sensor. This practical article aims to present the current state of knowledge on the use of hyperspectral imaging for sediment cor…

  • Spectrofluorescence imaging device for stalagmites

    Open Access•Yves Perrette•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2012

  • Sedimentary charcoal pattern in a karstic underground lake, Vercors massif, French Alps

    Open Access•Christopher Carcaillet, Anne-Sophie Perroux et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2007•Cited by: 3•References: 4

Knowledge on processes of charcoal transportation is crucial for fire reconstruction based on sedimentary charcoal. Charcoal is susceptible to long-distance transport by water. A lake basin with a large and long catchment area is likely to accumulate charcoal from many fires, not only those produced by fires nearby the lakeshore. Here we test the potential of charcoal transportation by analysing sedimentary charcoal accumulated in an underground …
