    Open Access•Anna Nygren•ARTICLE•Nordlit•2025

Fredrik Backmans Björnstad-trilogi (2016-2021) handlar om den fiktiva svenska småstaden Björnstad och hur staden påverkas av att en ung tjej våldtas av en av ortens lovande unga hockeytalanger. • Moving Through a Textual Space Autistically

Open Access•Hanna Bertilsdotter Rosqvist, Anna Nygren et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Medical Humanities•2024

This article is an investigation of neurodivergent reading practices. It is a collectively written paper where the focus is as much on an autoethnographic exploration of our autistic readings of autism/autistic fiction as it is on the read texts themselves. The reading experiences described come primarily from Yoon Ha Lee’s Dragon Pearl (2019) and Dahlia Donovan’s The Grasmere Cottage Mystery (2018), which we experience as opposite each other in …

  • I am that name? naming neurotypical imaginaries of the sole autist in autistic/autism fiction

Open Access•Hannah Bertilsdotter Rosqvist, Anna Nygren•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of Disability…•2023

This paper explores neurodivergent readings of different fiction and non-fiction novels with explicitly “diagnosed” “autistic characters”, or what McGrath (2017) has referred to as ‘named’ representations of autism, and where “autism” is a central part of the plot. We discuss the impact of neurotypical naming and neurotypical texts; what explicit referencing to “autism” and “autistic characters” do in the case of fiction and non-fiction novels ai…

Open Access•Hanna Bertilsdotter Rosqvist, Lill Hultman et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of Disability…•2023

In this paper we explore our own experiences of barriers to learning and academic knowledge production in academia and higher education. Our analyses are based on our collective autoethnographical accounts from our own experiences of ADHD and higher education, with a particular focus on post graduate education and our experiences of ADHD peer support in academic knowledge production. In our analysis, we have distinguished between three different …

The article investigates letter writing as a way to explore neurodiverse collectives, neuromixed communication and neurodiverse research collaboration. From the perspective of neurodiversity studies and translation practice/studies, the article negotiates new perspectives of inherited images of neurological selves and others, such as the non-autistic as the 'typical' in contrast to the 'atypical' autistic person. Experimenting with autistic time,…

  • Intensity and Variable Attention

Open Access•Hanna Bertilsdotter Rosqvist, Lill Hultman et al.•ARTICLE•The British Journal of Social Work•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 33

Literature on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has historically come from a cognitive deficit approach and lacked community authorship. In contrast, this article utilises a neurodiversity framework to explore ADHD as a cognitive difference through ADHDers’ experiences. Specifically, here we analyse collective autoethnographic writings from neurodivergent academic researchers writing to one other about their experiences of intensity…
