  • Le monde et la nature chez Renaud Barbaras

    Open Access•Karel Novotný•ARTICLE•AUC INTERPRETATIONES•2025

What we try to understand in this investigation, based in particular on texts from 2016, is the relationship to nature and the relevance of this concept in the current phase of Renaud Barbaras’s thinking, inaugurated by the 2019 book L’Appartenance. Vers une cosmologie phénoménologique (Belonging: Towards a Phenomenological Cosmology). And we realize that it is not a face, something visible, after all, that is felt in this fundamental affectivity…

  • Jan Patočka and French Phenomenology

    Open Access•Karel Novotný•ARTICLE•Journal of French and Francophone…•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 1

In his phenomenological works Jan Patočka increasingly referred to movement and lived/physical corporeality. He conceived the concept of the world in terms of the correlation of life with its milieu. In conjunction with Edmund Husserl’s late phenomenology of the lifeworld, he took lived corporeality as his starting point and guiding motif in a way that is parallel to Merleau-Ponty’s work. The article expresses an opinion, that it was also one of …

  • Welt und Erscheinen bei Jan Patočka

    Karel Novotný•ARTICLE•Phänomenologische Forschungen•2020

The influence of Eugen Fink on Jan Patocˇka is undeniable. Fink was his first advisor in questions concerning the phenomenology of the late Husserl in the mid-1930s. But as one can see in the correspondence between Patocˇka and Fink, there are also some h

  • Welt-Vorgegebenheit und ihre Deutungen

    Open Access•Karel Novotný•ARTICLE•AUC INTERPRETATIONES•2019

The article follows in its first part some basic ideas of Edmund Husserl concerning the pre-givenness of the world. In the genetic analysis the world in the naturality of its self-evident being presents an enigma for Husserl indeed that he tried to reduce by elucidating the ways how it is (pre-)given in and through horizonal world-apperceptions. The second part of the article mentions some limits of this approach that Eugen Fink has sharply seen,…

  • Leben und Natur. Zur frühen Phänomenologie der natürlichen Welt bei Jan Patočka

    Open Access•Karel Novotný•ARTICLE•AUC INTERPRETATIONES•2018

The article focuses on Patočka's early phenomenological thought developed around the concept of the natural world. More precisely, the aim of the article is to explore Patočka's recently published manuscript studies and fragments, dating from the first half of the 1940s, in which Patočka attempts to establish a deeper living correlation between man and world based on a certain metaphysical conception of nature which is not, as for Husserl, just o…
