  • Mapping the walk: A scalable computer vision approach for generating sidewalk network datasets from aerial imagery

Open Access•Maryam Hosseini, Andres Sevtsuk et al.•ARTICLE•Computers Environment and Urban…•2023

  • Estimating the effects of urban green regions in terms of diffusion

Open Access•Eric K Tokuda, Henrique Ferraz de Arruda et al.•ARTICLE•Environment and Planning B Urban…•2023

The interaction between cities and their respective green regions corresponds to an interesting issue that has received growing attention over the last decades. These relationships have multiple natures, ranging from providing habitat for animal life to temperature and humidity dynamics. Several methods based on area, size, shape, and distance have been considered in the literature. Given that several important contributions of green regions to u…

  • Sexual dimorphism in the Japanese cranial base: A Fourier‐wavelet representation

    Open Access•Pete E Lestrel, Roberto M César et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2005•Cited by: 1•References: 21

An approach, computational shape analysis (CSA), is presented here which utilizes a Fourier‐wavelet representation to numerically describe shape features of biological forms. Two elements are involved: 1) elliptical Fourier functions (EFFs), to provide estimates of global aspects , and 2) continuous wavelet transforms (CWTs) to generate an objective estimate of localized features . EFFs are computed, using a set of pseudohomologous points, to cre…

  • A Fourier-wavelet representation of 2-D shapes: Sexual dimorphism in the Japanese cranial base

    Open Access•Pete E Lestrel, Roberto M César et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropological Science•2004•Cited by: 5•References: 2

We present a new approach called computational shape analysis, which utilizes a Fourier-wavelet representation for characterizing shape features of 2-D forms commonly encountered in a wide set of sub-disciplines within the biological sciences. The morphology of interest consists of the human cranial base (CB) as depicted on lateral cephalometric radiographs. Given a complex irregularly bounded form in Cartesian coordinate space, we first compute …
