Citizens’ attitudes towards automated decision-making
Public organisations are starting to show an interest in automated decision-making (ADM). So far, existing research focuses on the governmental perspective on this phenomenon. Less attention is paid to citizens’ views on ADM. The aim of this study is to provide empirical insights into citizen awareness of and beliefs about ADM in public-sector services. To this end, we participated in an annual national survey in Sweden carried out by the SOM Ins…
Attempts to share information between public sector organisations over time
Despite the importance of inter-organisational information sharing (IOIS) in the public sector, such endeavours often fail. Existing research has shown that the values held by collaborating organisations are one important factor affecting these kinds of initiatives. However, research has sought only to a limited extent to address how value conflicts come into play over time. Therefore, this paper aims to explore how conflicting values shape an in…
On the Primary Influences of Age on Articulation and Phonation in Maximum Performance Tasks
Maximum performance tasks have been identified as possible domains where incipient signs of neurological disease may be detected in simple speech and voice samples. However, it is likely that these will simultaneously be influenced by the age and sex of the speaker. In this study, a comprehensive set of acoustic quantifications were collected from the literature and applied to productions of sustained [a] productions and Alternating Motion Rate d…
Mobility, animals and the virtue of justice
This chapter argues from a non-representationalist point of view that the capability of mobility — the practical freedom to move — serves to develop a virtue of justice. It shows that the scope of mobility justice is open-ended concerning the inclusion of nonhuman agents. The chapter outlines the representationalist approach to intentional action, and then provides a non-representationalist alternative. Phenotypical plasticity means that genetica…

Anthropomorphism and Mechanomorphism
The charge of anthropomorphism is still efficient in many academic corners to muffle those who speak about the emotional life of other animals. To project human properties onto other animals have been taken to be a categorical error. In human-animal studies, though, anthropomorphic projections are argued to be helpful analogues to describe other animals. The threat has, instead, been construed as ‘mechanomorphism’, the habit of projecting mechani…
