    Damas uses his poetry as a political space in which to systematically explain the reasons for the high intensity of his ideology and poetic style. Through this technique and outlook, he becomes a sort of historian of the condition of the downtrodden people he vows to speak for and defend. By doing so, he forces a shift from the intensity of his posture to that of the assailant he is responding to. This shift provides Damas's poetry with one of it…
