Urban neighbourhoods and far-right spatial strategies
This article examines key dynamics of the neighbourhood scale significant to the study of far-right politics in the Global North, highlighting the importance of critical urban research for anti-fascist horizons. Drawing from research in Spain and the UK, it identifies three core themes that thread far-right politics through urban neighbourhoods. First, far-right actors increasingly use neighbourhoods as hubs of civic engagement, challenging the a…
Neighbourhoods and the far right
This article responds to the set of commentaries published in Dialogues in Urban Research following our original contribution on ‘Urban Neighbourhoods and far-right spatial strategies: Displacement, infrastructure and civic life’. These responses not only engage productively with the empirical and conceptual dimensions of the paper, but also open up broader questions concerning normalization, digital spaces, class composition and the role of ever…
Social reproduction and feminized platform labor
This article examines the rise of domestic and care work platforms in Southern European cities, focusing on Madrid and Milan as relational contexts where platform capitalism intersects with enduring crises of social reproduction, migration regimes, and gendered labor precarity. Drawing on Social Reproduction Theory and an intersectional analytical lens, the study unpacks how digital platforms mediate the commodification, fragmentation, and spatia…
Housing struggles challenging racial capitalism
This article engages with the struggles of the ‘No Evictions Network’ (NEN) in Glasgow, a migrant- and activist-led organisation set up to resist the eviction of 300 asylum seekers by the multinational company Serco, which held a £1 billion-pound contract to provide housing to 17,000 asylum seekers in the UK. The NEN constituted the coming together of migrants’ and tenants’ struggles in the city. Drawing on the NEN’s experiences, the article high…

Racial capitalism, migration and the platform economy
Purpose This paper examines how platform economies extract value from the exclusionary dimensions of migration regimes to drive accumulation. Through the lens of racial capitalism, we analyze how informality functions as a key mechanism in shaping novel forms of racialization, labor stratification and devaluation. Design/methodology/approach This study draws on cross-sectoral qualitative research based on in-depth interviews with migrant workers …
Racial Capitalism, Political Reproduction, and the Commons
This paper foregrounds the centrality of reproductive politics in constituting the spaces of migrant activism. Addressing social reproductive issues as racial issues, it exposes how “premature death” and questions of survival shape migrants’ lives throughout the uneven geographies of racial capitalism. Drawing on the political experiences of the “No Evictions Network”—a migrant and activist‐led group campaigning for asylum seekers’ rights in Glas…
The Spatial Politics of Far-right Populism
This article explores the spatial politics of the Spanish far-right party VOX, deepening discussions around the spaces of xenophobic populism and anti-fascist politics. The paper foregrounds the need of moving beyond the nation-centred, institutional and descriptive approaches that characterise the literature on far-right politics, to focus on the quotidian grounds of far-right mobilisations. Through an analysis of VOX's politics of hate at the n…
