  • Statistical classification methods for estimating sex based on five skull traits

Open Access•Yun taek Shim, Deog-Im Kim et al.•ARTICLE•HOMO•2023

century Korean autopsy cadavers were evaluated using the ordinal scoring system of five cranial nonmetric traits as outlined in Buikstra & Ubelaker (1994). All scores of each trait were analyzed by linear discriminant and decision tree analyses for sex estimation. The frequency of each trait was analyzed and compared to populations from other studies. The accuracy for both sexes was 88.1% by discriminant analysis and 90.4% by decision tree. The t…

  • Non-metric Study of the External Occipital Protuberance for Sex Determination in Koreans

    Deog-Im Kim, Seung‐ho Han et al.•ARTICLE•Korean Journal of Physical…•2015•References: 4

The most essential biological profiles in physical and forensic anthropology are age, sex, and\npopulations to be determined. In case of dealing intact skeletons, experts can often determine sex with high\naccuracy. The external occipital protuberance (EOP) is one of the site among morphologic traits which is used to\ndetermine human sex. This study suggests the possibility to determine the sexual dimorphism using the EOP and\nsurrounding anatomi…

  • Sex Determination Using Three-dimensional Image of Skull in Korean

    Open Access•Deog-Im Kim, U‐young Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Korean Journal of Physical…•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 4

Sex determination is considered the first and most important process in the identification of unknown\nskeletal remains. The skull is one of bones with high accuracy to discriminate sexes, but there is no dimorphic\nstudies of Korean skull by discriminant function analysis. The aim of this study was to build and provide an easy\nand accurate discriminant equation to sex determination by using three-dimensional skull images of Korean.\nComputed to…

  • Questionnaire Survey Analysis on Necessity of Cadaveric Dissection for Nursing Students

    Open Access•Deog-Im Kim•ARTICLE•Korean Journal of Physical…•2015•Cited by: 3•References: 1

Nursing students will work to promote the health of patients as a nurse after graduation. Basic\nnursing science is to improve the quality and efficiency of nursing activity and to form the basis of nursing\nmandatory major. Anatomy is a curriculum of medical college, for that reason, it does not fit the characteristics of\nbasic nursing science, and it is difficult to study mandatory major. This research was to provide basic data to be\nimproved…
