  • Applying Social Network Theory to Vaping in High School: Implications for Person-Centered Intervention

    Open Access•Daniel Habib, Annabel Kady•ARTICLE•Substance Use & Misuse•2024

Background: Peer influence on risky behavior is particularly potent in adolescence and varies by gender. Smoking prevention programs focused on peer-group leaders have shown great promise, and a social influence model has proven effective in understanding adult smoking networks but has not been applied to adolescent vaping until 2023. This work aims to apply a social influence model to analyze vaping by gender in a high school network. Methods: A…

  • A linguistic analysis of dehumanization toward substance use across three decades of news articles

Open Access•Sabina Giorgi, Daniel Habib et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Introduction: Substances and the people who use them have been dehumanized for decades. As a result, lawmakers and healthcare providers have implemented policies that subjected millions to criminalization, incarceration, and inadequate resources to support health and wellbeing. While there have been recent shifts in public opinion on issues such as legalization, in the case of marijuana in the U.S., or addiction as a disease, dehumanization and s…

  • Dyadic Analysis of Fragile Middle Eastern States and Humanitarian Implications of Restrictive covid-19 Policies

Daniel Habib, Naela Elmore et al.•ARTICLE•Middle East Law and Governance•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 2

The covid -19 pandemic has pressured governments to respond with restrictive and health resource-oriented policies to contain the spread of the virus. The aim of this paper is to assess differential policy implementation due to state fragility with a spatial scope of the Middle Eastern region. The policies implemented by the four strongest and six most fragile Middle Eastern countries were extracted from the CoronaNet Government Response Database…

  • Stratigraphy and suggested phylogeny of deflandrea vestita (brideaux) comb. Nov. and deflandrea echinoidea Cookson and Eisenack

Marc Selig Sverdlove, Daniel Habib•ARTICLE•Geoscience and Man•1974

Marine cores recovered by the Research Vessel Glomar Challenger during Leg 11 of the Deep Sea Drilling Project in the western North Atlantic were investigated to determine the stratigraphic distribution of the Cretaceous dinoflagellate cysts Deflandrea ( = Spinidinium) vestita (Brideaux) comb. nov. and Deflandrea echinoidea Cookson and Eisenack. Deflandrea vestita is seemingly restricted to Albian sediments, whereas D. echinoidea first appears in…

  • Morphogenetic relationship between scriniodinium campanula Gocht and scriniodinium dictyotum Cookson and Eisenack

    Daniel Habib•ARTICLE•Geoscience and Man•1974

Fossil dinoflagellate cysts assigned to Scriniodinium campanula Gocht and S. dictyotum Cookson and Eisenack were recovered from Mesozoic sediments of the western North Atlantic. New evidence of cyst tabulation and relationship of the two wall layers is proposed. Morphological gradation between these two morphotypes, in sediments of early Neocomian age, suggests that they are morphogenetically related

  • Taxonomy, morphology, and suggested phylogeny of the dinoflagellate genus Druggidium

    Daniel Habib•ARTICLE•Geoscience and Man•1973

The new genus Druggidium is proposed for three species of dinoflagellates whose cysts share the following characteristics: small proximate cysts with cyst tabulation 3' or 4', Oa, 6?, 6c, 6'?, lp, 1??; two‐plate precingular archeopyle (2?‐3?), with operculum composed of two opercular pieces (2P) that are commonly adherent at the cingulum; and spatulate sulcus. The species are Druggidium apicopaucicum sp. nov. and type for the genus, D, deflandrei…
