Factors Associated with Not Seeking Post-exposure Prophylaxis for HIV Among PrEP-Naive Men Who Have Sex with Men
HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) uptake is low among men who have sex with men (MSM), even among those aware of it. We examined factors associated with not seeking PEP among MSM in the ANRS-PREVENIR cohort who were PrEP-naive at enrollment, aware of PEP, and reported a potential need for it in the previous 12 months. Among 3,193 participants, 632 (19.8%) met these criteria, and 424 (67.1%) did not seek PEP. The most cited reasons were low perc…
Sexual health interventions for young people with mental disorders
Young People with Mental Disorders (YPMD) face unique challenges related to their sexual health and well-being. Interacting factors such as psychiatric symptoms, medication side effects, histories of trauma, hospitalization, and difficulties with social relationships can contribute to immediate and long-term vulnerability. Sexual health promotion interventions could be tailored to meet their specific needs. This scoping review aims to list and an…
Trajectories of Chemsex Engagement Across Time Among PrEP-Using Men Who Have Sex with Men
Objectives To identify trajectories of chemsex engagement and their evolution across time among men who have sex with men (MSM) and the associated factors. Methods Among 2518 PrEP-using MSM in the French ANRS- Prévenir cohort, a group-based trajectory model was used to identify trajectories of chemsex engagement. A multivariable model was then used to estimate time-constant factors associated with trajectory membership, and time-varying factors as…
Generational perspectives on PrEP, prevention, and sexual practices in MSM (ANRS-PREVENIR cohort)
This study explored perceptions of sexual norms and practices related to HIV prevention and PrEP use among three generations of men who have sex with men (MSM) in the ANRS-PREVENIR cohort in France in 2022. Using a qualitative approach with three focus groups, we identified key themes: societal transformations, evolving sexual norms, and changing attitudes toward PrEP. Participants (29-63 years) belonged to three distinct generational groups: tho…

Proof of concept of a sexual health outreach program led by community health workers in homeless hostels in the greater Paris region
Context: Homeless individuals face exacerbated risks of infectious diseases, including sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Programs led by Community Health Workers (CHWs) have demonstrated potential to enhance healthcare access for marginalized groups such as homeless families. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of a novel CHW-based outreach program addressing sexual health issues among individuals residing in homel…

PrEP in the Context of Other HIV Risk Reduction Strategies Among Men Who Have Sex with Men
Sleep, Prospective Memory, and Immune Status among People Living with HIV
Background: Persons living with HIV (PLWH) frequently report sleep complaints, but objective measurements are still lacking regarding sleep continuity, total sleep time per 24 h, and the links with both prospective memory performance and HIV infection parameters. Methods: PLWH ( n = 96) and control ( n = 96) groups (balanced for gender and age) were monitored by 24h-actigraphy for at least seven consecutive days. The prospective memory performanc…
How PrEP users constitute a community in the MSM population through their specific experience and management of stigmatization. The example of the French ANRS-PREVENIR study
The ANRS-PREVENIR (2017–2020) prospective cohort study aims to reduce the number of new HIV infections in the “Ile-de-France” region in France, by enrolling individuals at high risk of HIV infection and proposing daily and on-demand pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). The qualitative component of the ANRS-PREVENIR study aimed to investigate social and relational evolutions associated with PrEP use in men who have sex with men (MSM). In 2018, 12 focu…
Lessons learned from the experiences of informal PrEP users in France
Before January 2016, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), a new biomedical HIV-prevention tool, was only available in France via ANRS-Ipergay clinical study but informal use was reported outside this setting. PrEPage qualitative study reports profiles and experiences of participants who used PrEP outside of a biomedical trial before this prevention method was authorized. Between March 2015 and February 2016, a cross-section of twenty-four informal Pr…
