Territorial features, disorder and fear of crime in residential neighbourhoods in Malaysia: Testing for multigroup invariance
This research examined the relationships between territoriality, disorder, crime, perceived risk and fear of crime and determined whether these relationships are constant between neighbourhoods. Questionnaire surveys and on-site observations were conducted on a sample of 320 residents from two neighbourhoods in Malaysia. This paper studies the influence of the matrilineal society in relation to the traditional Minangkabau house of Western Sumatera, Indonesia. It can be clearly seen in the internal layout of the house and the appearance of the architecture, which features a multi-tiered curved roof structure with upswept gables to mimic the horn of a buffalo.
