  • The impact of leverage manipulation on investment efficiency in state-owned enterprises in the context of leverage regulation

Open Access•J H Li, Jingming Li et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

  • Mapping cultural ecosystem services at scale

    Open Access•Wenjie Liu, W Q Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

Understanding how multidimensional cultural ecosystem services (CES) vary across large, heterogeneous landscapes is critical for integrated protected area governance but hindered by methodological constraints. This study develops a reproducible, phrase driven framework to assess eight CES categories across 836 National Forest Parks in China. Utilizing a large-scale dataset of online visitor reviews from Ctrip, we employed a crowdsourced phrasal l…

  • Promoting green development through improving fairness

Open Access•Qingfang Liu, Wei Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

Intervallic urban-rural income gap (URIG) poses a threat to the synergistic reduction of pollution and carbon emission (SRPC) in pursuit of sustainable development. However, prior studies mainly focused on URIG’s impact on single environmental issues and ignored spatiotemporal heterogeneity. In order to fill above-mentioned research gaps, our research delves into the impact of the URIG and the SRPC, and further analyzes how digital finance and ed…

  • The impact of rising temperatures on social conflict in China

Open Access•Guanfei Meng, Shiqiang Sun et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

We examine the causal effect of temperature on social conflict in China, with a specific focus on labor unrest including strikes and worker protests—which constitutes a frequently overlooked form of social conflict. Using city-daily weather data matched with social conflicts (2014–2020), we employ a high-dimensional fixed effects to account for time-invariant city characteristics and common temporal shocks, thereby isolating plausibly exogenous t…

  • Does the digital economy impact global carbon shadow price? A study on nonlinear relationships based on the dynamic threshold model

Open Access•Ying Liu, Yajie Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

Clarifying the nexus between digital economy development (DED) and carbon shadow price (CSP) is fundamental to reconciling environmental conservation with economic growth, as CSP serves as a core indicator in environmental economics for evaluating the trade-off between low-carbon transition and economic development. Drawing on dynamic panel data covering 60 economies, this study adheres to the core logic of environmental economics, employs nonpar…

  • Spatial and temporal evolution of disaster resilience across China

Open Access•Xihui Wang, Wang Xi-hui et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

In response to escalating frequency and intensity of natural disasters worldwide, enhancing disaster resilience, i.e., the critical capability for effective disaster response and sustainable recovery, has become crucial. With a new disaster resilience assessment framework, this study analyzes the spatial distribution and temporal evolution pattern of the regional disaster resilience based on the data of disaster resilience in 31 regions of China …

  • Impact of ambient fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ) pollution on disease burden in BRICS from 1990 to 2023

Open Access•Shangkun Si, Shizhe Deng et al.•ARTICLE•BMJ Global Health•2026

BACKGROUND: ) pollution (APMP) is a leading global mortality risk factor. Its long-term trends, drivers and future burden trajectories in emerging economies remain inadequately understood. This study provides the first systematic assessment of spatiotemporal patterns, key drivers and projections to 2050 of APMP-attributable health loss in BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) from 1990 to 2023, benchmarked against global…

  • Comparison of the cumulative exposure to four measures of blood pressure for predicting cardiovascular disease risk in the Chinese Uyghurs

Open Access•Jing Cheng, Bo Yang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

All four cumBP markers were significantly associated with CVD risk in this population. Compared with the other three cumBP measures, cumSBP had the strongest association with CVD events and provided a superior incremental predictive value for CVD events

  • Noninvasive Saliva Collection for DNA Analyses From Free‐Ranging T ibetan M acaques ( M acaca thibetana )

    Open Access•Noah D Simons, J Lorenz et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Primatology•2012

Cryptic and endangered fauna, including many primate taxa, pose challenges for noninvasive collection of biomaterials. As a result, application of noninvasive genotyping to primates has been limited to the use of samples such as feces and hair for the extraction of PCR ‐amplifiable DNA . We present a method for noninvasive collection of saliva from habituated, free‐ranging monkeys. The method utilizes a low‐cost apparatus that controls for contam…

  • Social Mobility among Men

    Jihong Li, J H Li et al.•ARTICLE•European Sociological Review•1999•Cited by: 4•References: 9

In this study we operationalize neo-Marxian (Wright) and Weberian (Goldthorpe) class concepts and compare mobility patterns across three industrial countries (the United States, Sweden, and the former West Germany), using data from the Comparative Project on Class Structure and Class Consciousness. The analysis demonstrates that, despite differences in gross mobility between Wrighrt and Goldthorpe's class schemes, the within-nation fluidity patte…
