    Urs Lindner•ARTICLE•Geschichte und Gesellschaft•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 1

The article addresses three main topics of the controversy: the role of colonial violence in understanding the Shoah, the relationship between antisemitism and racism, and the German position on Israel /Palestine. What has been particularly contested with regard to all three topics is the uniqueness of the Shoah. This claim, the article suggests, should not be understood as a factual statement, but as a comparison-based value judgement. According…

  • Critical Realism meets kritische Sozialtheorie

Open Access•Urs Lindner, Dimitri Mader•EDITOR•BOOK•Critical Realism Meets Kritische…•2017

In their debate here Jacques Bidet, Gérard Duménil and Urs Lindner confront their interpretations of Marx's Capital, discussing the usages to be made of it today. Questions addressed here include the place of the philosophy, economics, and social sciences, in the critique of political economy. They examine the points where Marx's analysis has been reformulated or completed, to what extent it has been rendered obsolete by historical evolutions, an…

A former member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Aditya Nigam is one of India’s well-known public intellectuals. In this interview, Urs Lindner asks him about the current state of Indian Marxism, the contemporary relevance of Althusser and M. N. Roy, the intricacies of the Maoist movement in India and how to get rid of Eurocentric conceptions of modernity. Regarding the latter, Nigam in particular elaborates on questions of popular poli…

    Urs Lindner•ARTICLE•Actuel Marx•2011

The article critically reconsiders Althusser’s thesis that there is an “epistemological break” in the work of Marx taking place in 1845/46. It is argued that there can indeed be found an important break in Marx at this time, but that it cannot be conceptualised as an “epistemological” passage from ideology to science. Instead, this break should be considered as a purely philosophical one, as a transition from a young-Hegelian to a realist social …
