Prejudice and Perception
Propositions concerning similarities and differences in perception were tested upon two groups of sociology students selected by previous testing as the most and least prejudiced among three hundred. Impressions of the situation rather than of the individual are found to determine how the individual will be seen: a Negro seen in a stereotyped setting will be commented on more unfavorably than a Negro seen in a non-stereotyped setting.
