  • “Housing didn’t solve everything”

Rong Bai, Cyleste Collins et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Social Distress and…•2026

Family housing instability is closely linked to child welfare issues. This study employed a mixed-methods approach to examine the long-term housing outcomes and experiences of families in a randomized controlled trial (RCT), and how insights from treatment group participants, their case workers, and child welfare workers help to explain those outcomes. We used county-level administrative data (n = 273) to explore and compare program participants’…

  • Motivations to Adopt

Open Access•Nancy Rolock, Jeesoo Jeon et al.•ARTICLE•Families in Society The Journal…•2025

This study explored parental motivations to adopt and associations between motivations and family well-being. Multivariate OLS regression was used to examine responses from Young Adult Adoptee ( n = 206; average 24 years old) and Adoptive Parent ( n = 295) samples. When adoptees perceived that their parents were motivated by love for them, or helping a child in need, they reported higher levels of family functioning. Adoptive parents who endorsed…

  • Depression and daytime dysfunction centralize the fatigue–sleep cascade in island firefighters

Open Access•Yudan Liu, Zhihong Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2025

Depression (S4) and daytime dysfunction (P7) may serve as key nodes linking sleep and affective processes; fatigue may relate to psychological distress via sleep; and tenacity (C1) could play an upstream protective role. Sleep status and shift work may reorganize network structure without necessarily altering global connectivity. Targeted interventions may consider subjective sleep perception and psychological resilience in island-based firefight…

Rong Bai, Yemiao Gao et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2023
