Increased emission leakage induced by Chinese households' consumption
This paper uses an input-output subsystem decomposition method to analyse the evolutions of inter-industry and international leakage of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions induced by the final consumption of Chinese households. This decomposition breaks down the inter-industry feedback and spillover effects into various sub-components to track the emission distribution through international trade between China and its trading partners. Using the EORA …
The Role of Energy Transition, Digitalization, and Green Goods in Material Footprints and Sustainability
This study investigates how green and non‐green goods, energy transition, digitalization, economic growth, and population affect the material footprint of G‐7 countries from 1990 to 2023. Using an extended STIRPAT framework, we show that green and non‐green goods increase material footprint, demonstrating the resource intensity associated with production and consumption patterns. Economic growth and population further intensify resource demands, …
Sub-system input-output analysis of international and inter-industry leakage of emissions induced by household consumption in the United States of America
The literature highlights the significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by households in the United States of America (USA) and consumption-induced carbon leakage from the USA to other countries over the last few decades. However, there is a lack of examination of the evolution of emissions induced by the demand of US households from both inter-industry and international trade perspectives. This paper extends the standard sub-system input-output…
Is it the behavior and actions of people that determine sustainable urban communities
Towards Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
Global climate change is one of the main threats facing humanity and the impacts on natural systems as well as humans are expected to be severe. People can take action against these threats through two approaches: mitigation and adaptation. However, mitigations and adaptations are contingent on the level of motivation and awareness, as well as socio-economic and environmental conditions. This study examined personal perception and motivation to m…
