  • Indigenous Epistemologies and Decolonising Genocide Research on Palestine

    Open Access•Mohammed Nijim•ARTICLE•Journal of Holy Land and…•2026

In the face of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, more scholars have begun to examine the situation in Gaza in particular from a genocide perspective, like never before. Given this proliferation of scholarship on Gaza/Palestine, this article addresses some of the fundamental issues that should be considered when addressing genocide in Palestine. Although the Israeli colonial policies are context-dependent, Gaza must be viewed as part of the overall se…

  • The dialectics of reconstruction in Gaza: Settler colonialism and the impossibility of rebuilding Gaza

    Open Access•Mohammed Nijim•ARTICLE•Settler Colonial Studies•2026

This paper explores the reconstruction process in Gaza, which I see as dialectical, emphasizing its impossibility, at least on organic Indigenous terms. I suggest that any organic reconstruction of the native sector under Zionist settler colonialism is highly unlikely, especially when Western powers support such a regime and its pursuit of native destruction. I contend that genuine efforts at reconstruction stand in stark contradiction to Zionist…

  • The implications of the ongoing war on Gaza for food sustainability

    Open Access•Abdo Hassoun, Ahmed Hamad et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Futures•2025•References: 2

The Gaza Strip, a small and densely populated region in the Middle East, has endured escalating violence since Israel's occupation began in June 1967. The ongoing war has had devastating consequences, severely affecting socioeconomic and environmental aspects, particularly food systems. This work investigates the impact of the ongoing war on food security and food-related sustainable development goals (SDGs) from local, regional, and global persp…

  • Gazacide: Palestinians From Refugeehood to Ontological Obliteration

    Open Access•Mohammed Nijim•ARTICLE•Critical Sociology•2025•Cited by: 2•References: 28

This article addresses the ongoing genocide in Gaza and argues that it must be understood in a larger historical context of settler colonialism. While Israel has always sought the completion of its settler-colonial project, I argue that the current genocide seeks immediate results of dispossession and annexation. My study examines the plight of refugees and contends that the right of return is at the center of Palestinians' struggle. Return, land…

  • Genocide in Palestine: Gaza as a case study

    Mohammed Nijim•ARTICLE•The International Journal of…•2022•Cited by: 11

This article contends that Israeli policies that were enacted after the introduction of the siege in Gaza amount to slow-motion genocide. The United Nations has repeatedly warned of the serious implications of the Israeli siege and asserted that Gaza could soon be uninhabitable [Miriam Berger, ‘The U.N. Once Predicted Gaza Would Be “Uninhabitable” by 2020. Two Million People Still Live There’, Washington Post, January 2, 2020, https://www.washing…
