    Open Access•Nikolas Glover, Andreas Mørkved Hellenes•ARTICLE•Contemporary European History•2020•Citada por: 1•Referências: 7

While recent scholarship has highlighted how participating countries at the interwar world's fairs competed by displaying ideological versions of modernity, the alternative national projections of smaller states have received less attention. This study of the Swedish national pavilions from Brussels 1935 via Paris 1937 to New York 1939 analyses how a loose but well-connected network of communicators over the course of three fairs responded to, an…

This article analyzes how the public relations of multinational companies was affected by the double impact of decolonization and spread of television during the 1960s. It contributes to recent theoretical conceptualizations of corporate social responsibility by adding the dimension of home country stakeholders and the border-crossing character of corporate responsibility. The analysis deals with the changing media representations in Sweden of Sw…

We examine the value(s) ascribed to knowledge – in economic and/or idealistic terms – using private correspondence institutes as our point of departure. These were immensely popular, yet have hitherto been overlooked by historians. First, we argue that commercially driven correspondence education, which was a mas…

    Nikolas Glover•ARTICLE•The Public Historian•2008•Citada por: 6•Referências: 3

The past we associate with ourselves, “Others,” and particular spaces—be they historical sites or global communities—is central to the study of current global transformative cultural processes. Thus, investigating the uses and narratives of history among tourists and their local “hosts,” we might gain important insights into how we try to make sense of the ever-changing present and our place in it. One way of doing so would be to apply the analyt…
