  • Fatigue and Exposure to Cigarette Smoke

    Open Access•Robert A Hicks, C Fernandez et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•2003

Responses of 100 undergraduates who scored low on a fatigue scale were compared with the responses of 100 students who scored high. There were no differences between these groups for the number of students who smoked cigarettes and the hours that they were exposed each week to second-hand smoke. Differences between groups pertained to severity of the symptoms that they experienced when they were exposed to cigarette smoke, i.e., the High Fatigue …

  • Handedness and the vividness of dreams

Robert A Hicks, Jose Bautista et al.•ARTICLE•Dreaming•1999•Cited by: 2•References: 2

We provided a constructive replication of a recently published paper by measuring the relationship between handedness and recall of vivid dreams. To do this we asked groups of right- (N = 174), mixed- (N = 16) and left-handed (N = 13) university students to respond to a dream scale. Our data were consistent with those of the recent study in question in that we demonstrated that left-handers were significantly more likely to recall types of dreams…

  • Leisure and Type A-B Behavior

    Open Access•Robert A Hicks, Gregory J Hicks et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1991

Of 334 undergraduates, 152 scoring greater than or equal to 8 were classified as Type A and 182 scoring less than 8 as Type B. The groups did not differ in attitudes toward leisure activity, but Type A scorers claimed to spend significantly more time weekly in leisure activities than Type B scorers. This suggests Type A people live more intensely relative to type B scorers
