Reading Resurgence
Although Indigenous and postcolonial studies are often treated as distinct fields, this article argues for their interconnection through a focus on relational ways of being. By juxtaposing contemporary Indigenous North American and postcolonial Ghanaian novels, this essay explores the concept of relationality as a form of Indigenous resurgence. With Nanabush’s teaching of relationality as a framework, the study examines how characters in Eden Rob…
Implementing targeted social and emotional learning interventions in schools—Are more specific models needed
Schools are increasingly encouraged to adopt evidence‐based or evidence informed interventions and implement them using insights from implementation science. The literature relating to implementation of interventions in schools has focused largely on universal interventions, particularly for social and emotional learning (SEL), which are designed for all children and young people. In contrast, targeted interventions provide additional support for…
Advancing equitable access to digital mental health in the Asia-Pacific region in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond
The COVID-19 pandemic had an unprecedented impact on global mental health and well-being, including across the Asia-Pacific. Efforts to mitigate virus spread led to far-reaching disruption in the delivery of health and social services. In response, there was a rapid shift to the use of digital mental health (DMH) approaches. Though these technologies helped to improve access to care for many, there was also substantial risk of access barriers lea…

“You’ve Heard It Now”
As a white settler scholar working and living on the lands of the Cherokee and Catawba Peoples in what is currently North Carolina, I am directly implicated in the very networks of colonial power analyzed in this chapter.Even though I am committed to being a good reader and listener who lets the texts with which I engage speak for themselves, as an outsider to the stories and communities discussed here there are undoubtedly ways in which my under…

A Covid-19 Vaccination Program to Promote Uptake and Equity for People Experiencing Homelessness in Los Angeles County
People experiencing homelessness (PEH) have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19, yet their vaccination coverage is lower than is that of the general population. We implemented a COVID-19 vaccination program that used evidence-based and culturally tailored approaches to promote vaccine uptake and equity for PEH in Los Angeles County, California. From February 2021 through February 2022, 33 977 doses of vaccine were administered at 2658 cl…

A Small Place recounts "sitting across from an Englishman" who, as a result of the collapse of the British empire, looked "so sad, sitting on the rubbish heap of history" (30)(31).In likening the historical contribution of the English to the accumulation of trash, Kincaid portrays the past as an accretion of stuff or a reservoir of pollution, rather than something that is simply elapsed and unrecoverable. The metaphorical rubbish of history that t…
The implementation of Lego ® ‐Based Therapy in two English mainstream primary schools
Small‐group interventions are often used in schools to support the development of children’s social skills. One such intervention, Lego ® ‐Based Therapy (LBT), is increasingly popular internationally in schools. Although LBT has an emerging evidence‐base, there is limited research exploring effective LBT implementation. An in‐depth, exploratory multiple‐case study design was used to explore the process of LBT assimilation in two English mainstrea…
Characteristics of effective small group social skill interventions in mainstream primary education
Mainstream primary and elementary schools are increasingly involved in delivering small group social skill interventions for pupils with special needs, particularly in the light of the evidence indicating the impact of social skill competency on later life outcomes. Despite significant investment by schools in training and resources to implement these interventions, very little is currently understood about the characteristics of effective small …
Constructing the Meaning of Digital Television in Britain, the United States and Australia
Much has been written about digital television. Mainstream reports range from a vague televisual utopia where one need never unplug oneself from the TV ever again to the social realities and practicalities of a consumer driven market. This study examines how the media constructs the meaning of digital television in Britain, the United States and Australia. Rogers' (1983, 1995) diffusion of innovation theory to assess the rate of diffusion the rol…
