  • Chick paper sampling

Open Access•Marta G Zlotnick, Marta Zlotnick et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Introduction Every year, cases of salmonellosis associated with backyard poultry (BYP) contact are reported, despite public health prevention efforts. Methods We sampled chick shipping materials (“chick paper”) at agricultural retailers to detect Salmonella and to identify supply hatcheries to share mitigation information. • An Introduction to the Agnieszka and Timothy J. Johnson Collection of Rare Books

    Open Access•Agnieszka Johnson, Timothy J Johnson et al.•ARTICLE•Archivo Ibero-Americano•2024

Franciscans in La Florida, like their confreres everywhere, curated library collections to enhance their pastoral ministry, theological education, and personal edification. Due to the vicissitudes of war, the noteworthy collection of books housed in the provincial friary in Saint Augustine was put to the flame in 1702 by marauding British forces under the command of Colonel James Moore. The Agnieszka and Timothy J. Johnson Collection of Rare Book…

  • Bacterial community structure and function distinguish gut sites in captive red‐shanked doucs ( Pygathrix nemaeus )

    Open Access•Jonathan B Clayton, Robin R Shields‐Cutler et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Primatology•2019

The mammalian order primates contains wide species diversity. Members of the subfamily Colobinae are unique amongst extant primates in that their gastrointestinal systems more closely resemble those of ruminants than other members of the primate order. In the growing literature surrounding nonhuman primate microbiomes, analysis of microbial communities has been limited to the hindgut, since few studies have captured data on other gut sites, inclu…

  • The gut microbiome of nonhuman primates

Open Access•Jonathan B Clayton, Gaspar Zarrías Arévalo et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Primatology•2018

The mammalian gastrointestinal (GI) tract is home to trillions of bacteria that play a substantial role in host metabolism and immunity. While progress has been made in understanding the role that microbial communities play in human health and disease, much less attention has been given to host-associated microbiomes in nonhuman primates (NHPs). Here we review past and current research exploring the gut microbiome of NHPs. First, we summarize met…

  • Dream Bodies and Peripatetic Prayer

    Open Access•Timothy J Johnson•ARTICLE•Modern Theology•2005

The erstwhile sedentary Parisian theologian, Bonaventure of Bagnoregio, traveled extensively throughout Europe after his election as Minister General of the Minorite Order in 1257. In the fall of 1259 he arrived on Mount La Verna in Tuscany. As he ruminated on the stigmatized flesh of Francis of Assisi, Bonaventure composed the classical mystical text, Itinerarium mentis in Deum. Utilizing Michel de Certeau's work on prayer, travel narratives and…

  • Education and Social Mobility in Ghana

    G E Hurd, Timothy J Johnson•ARTICLE•Sociology of Education•1967•Cited by: 6

Studies of the process of modernization in Africa focus attention upon the primacy of the occupational structure rather than the educational system in the determination of rates of social mobility. Where occupational placement depends on educational qualifications, however, the educational system is a crucial channel of social mobility. Ghanaian data on patterns of social selection into institutions of higher education suggest that, despite the e…
