  • Relationship between social capital and post-partum antiretroviral therapy adherence among women living with HIV in the Eastern Cape, South Africa

Khadijat Adeleye, Eyitayo Omolara Owolabi et al.•ARTICLE•African Journal of AIDS Research•2024

We found evidence in support of the role of social capital in ART adherence. Strengthening social support networks and addressing psychosocial factors could improve adherence to ART. As such, policymakers and programme managers should consider the role of social capital in designing interventions to improve ART adherence. Future research should explore the mechanisms through which social capital impacts ART adherence

    Open Access•David A Okunlola, Khadijat Adeleye et al.•ARTICLE•Socius Sociological Research for…•2024•Referencias: 1

Given the roles of patriarchy and pronatalist culture and the high prevalence of spousal violence against partnered women in Nigeria, the authors estimate and visualize the moderating effect of years of marriage on the probability of experiencing spousal violence (ESV) among involuntarily childless women (ICW) (vs. non-childless women [NCW]). Using multiple binary logistic regression, the authors analyze the 2018 Nigeria Demographic and Health Su…

Open Access•David A Okunlola, Benjamin Bukky Ilesanmi et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Men s Studies•2024•Referencias: 3

To examine whether exposure to family planning messages (EFM) was negatively associated with feminizing contraception (FC) and the risk of stigmatizing female users (SFU) among partnered men in northern Nigeria, we analyzed the 2018 Nigerian demographic and health survey (4472 partnered men aged 15–59). The results from the multinomial logistic regressions showed that EFM was negatively associated with the FC (vs. no FC) and the risk of SFU versu…

Open Access•David A Okunlola, Olusesan Ayodeji Makinde et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Family Issues•2023•Referencias: 25

There is a gradual tendency towards prolonged bachelorhood among men in Nigeria. Studies have linked this to socio-economic factors, but this evidence is sparsely explored in the context of Nigeria. Hence, this study fills the knowledge gap. The 2016/17 Nigeria Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey data of 7803 adult men (aged 18-34 years) was analysed by using descriptive and fitting binary logitic regression and Cox regression models. Results show …

  • Rural-urban differentials in the relationship between household wealth index and maternal anaemia status in Nigeria

Abayomi Folorunso Awoleye, Oluwatobi Abel Alawode et al.•ARTICLE•Health Care For Women International•2022

Anaemia - a condition of low haemoglobin level in the blood is prevalent among women in Nigeria despite years of interventions. Wealth status have implications for this prevalence but there is a dearth of research examining this relationship and residential dimensions in it. The social determinant of health framework was employed to understand the rural-urban dimension of this relationship. Chi-square test and multivariate logit regression models…
