    Open Access•Karina Weichold, Deepali Sharma•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2026

This special section advances developmental psychopathology as a dynamic, multilevel, and contextually embedded perspective on human development. Moving beyond categorical models of disease vs. health, the six contributions emphasize dimensional, process-oriented, and culturally sensitive approaches to understanding heterogeneity in developmental pathways of psychosocial adaptation. Key topics addressed by this special section include strengths-b…

Open Access•Sheriffa Mahama, Karina Weichold et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Research on Adolescence•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 10

Open Access•Michael Spaeth, Karina Weichold et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Family Issues•2017•Cited by: 1•References: 38

Recent studies revealed that parental knowledge of the child's activities and whereabouts moderately declines during adolescence. This study investigated whether (a) there exist trajectory classes that considerably deviate from this average trend and (b) whether early psychosocial factors distinguish the trajectory subgroups. Analyses were based on a German sample of school students ( N = 715) who provided annual self-reports from age 10 to 14 ye…

Over the same time period, it was evaluated based on a longitudinal quasi-experimental design wit…

  • The development of leisure boredom in early adolescence: Predictors and longitudinal associations with delinquency and depression

Michael Spaeth, Karina Weichold et al.•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•2015•Cited by: 13•References: 1

The literature proposes that leisure boredom may systematically increase during adolescence. Moreover, some authors assume that this hypothesized developmental trend is associated with increases in youthful delinquency and depression. Individual dispositions (e.g., temperamental disinhibition) are believed to exacerbate the relationship between boredom and delinquency. This study investigated whether (1) leisure boredom really is an increasing ph…

This study investigated the effectiveness of a life skills program with regard to alcohol consumption, life skills, knowledge, and school bonding for young adolescents. The universal school-based life skills program IPSY (Information * Psychosocial competence = Protection) was …

The articles assembled in this volume compar…
