    Open Access•Meera Suresh Babu•ARTICLE•Journal of Family Issues•2025•References: 34

Motherhood is considered to be the central part of being a woman in the pronatalist culture. However, an increasing number of women in India are rejecting and challenging the dominant norms of motherhood. In this context, I draw on empirical work exploring the meaning of motherhood and childfree choice among childfree women in India. In-depth Interviews with ten childfree Indian women revealed that they challenge womanhood being equated with moth…

India, a highly pronatalist country, places motherhood as a core element in defining women. Therefore, it is in this context that the choice of more and more women to be childfree needs to be analysed. The qualitative methodology involving narrative enquiry was used to conduct in-depth interviews of 10 childfree women in India.…

The cointegration results show that exports and imports are not cointegrated and the current account (CA) series is not mean reverting during the study period. Therefore, the results refute the sustainability of CAD and the validity of the intertemporal budget constraint in the In…

  • Dynamic relationship between fiscal deficit and current account deficit in India

Manoranjan Sahoo, Meera Suresh Babu et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Public…•2022

This study examines the dynamic relationship between fiscal balance and current account balance and also tests the 'twin deficit' hypotheses for India using quarterly data from 1996q1 to 2016q1. Empirical results support the existence of the twin deficit hypothesis and also suggest a reverse causality running from the current account balance to fiscal balance. These results have important policy implications for maintaining a lower current accoun…

  • Conceptualisation of psycholinguistics strategies

English is taught as a second language at every stage of education in all states of India and has been accepted as the main medium of instruction in higher education. With the changing indispensable role of English, the teaching of English in India is in a deplorable state. The history of English language teaching unfolds authoritative precedents for the ideas mentioned. The different teaching methods of foreign languages are actually aimed to te…
